Job summary

ImagineArt in a remote-first setup seeks a backend engineer who owns the architecture behind our GenAI generation pipelines. You will design and implement scalable, high-throughput systems, manage asynchronous workloads, and optimize latency and cost in production.

You should have 5+ years of backend experience, strong system design skills, and hands-on experience with distributed queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience with ownership of production systems at scale.
• Strong system design skills with clear tradeoffs.
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous pipelines and distributed queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Experience in high-concurrency, high-throughput environments.
• Ability to work independently in a fast, bootstrapped environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend systems that handle high-throughput, asynchronous workloads (generation queues, worker orchestration, media processing).
• Architect for scale and reliability — define data flow, service boundaries, and failure handling.
• Build and optimize async pipelines: job queuing, retries, backpressure, dead-letter handling, and ensuring millions of requests move smoothly.
• Improve performance and cost at the infrastructure level, where inference is expensive and efficiency matters.
• Set technical direction and raise the engineering bar through code reviews and mentorship.
