Job description

Why PsychPlus?

This role requires hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems or healthcare technology. US healthcare experience is strongly preferred. Candidates without prior experience working with EHR/EMR platforms, clinical workflows, or healthcare technology will not be considered.

The current delivery model for mental health care is broken in this country. At PsychPlus, we are on a mission to reimagine how mental health care is delivered to every American by making it more accessible, affordable, and convenient.

We are building a modern, digital-first approach to psychiatry and therapy, combining exceptional clinical care with best-in-class technology. With in-person care available across our Texas locations and virtual care options that allow patients to access services conveniently, we are creating an integrated care experience designed around the needs of patients, providers, and care teams.

Technology is central to this mission. We believe that better clinical systems and streamlined workflows can empower providers to spend less time navigating administrative complexity and more time delivering high-quality mental health care.

Join us in building technology that supports our clinicians, improves the patient experience, and helps make quality mental health care accessible to everyone.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Owner – Clinical to own and evolve the clinical product experience at PsychPlus. This role will focus on building and improving the workflows and capabilities that support our psychiatry and therapy services across in-person and virtual care settings.

You will work closely with clinicians, clinical operations, engineering, design, QA, and other cross-functional teams to translate real-world clinical needs into intuitive, scalable, and reliable product solutions. From patient intake and clinical assessments to treatment planning, documentation, medication-related workflows, and care coordination, you will help ensure our clinical technology supports the day-to-day needs of providers and care teams.

The ideal candidate understands the complexities of US healthcare and behavioral health workflows, has hands-on experience with EHR/EMR systems, and can bridge the gap between clinical operations and technical execution. You should be comfortable translating complex workflows into clear requirements, prioritizing product enhancements, and driving features from discovery through delivery and continuous improvement.

If you’re passionate about behavioral health, healthcare technology, and building products that enable better patient care, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities
  • Own the clinical product backlog: Define, maintain, and prioritize the clinical product backlog based on business objectives, provider needs, patient experience, operational priorities, and user feedback.
  • Drive clinical workflow improvements: Partner with clinicians and clinical operations teams to understand and optimize end-to-end behavioral health workflows, including patient intake, registration, assessments, psychiatric evaluations, therapy sessions, treatment planning, clinical documentation, follow-up visits, and care coordination.
  • Translate clinical needs into product requirements: Convert clinical, operational, and business requirements into detailed user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and workflow documentation.
  • Improve the EHR/EMR experience: Identify opportunities to simplify clinical documentation, reduce duplicate data entry, improve information accessibility, and streamline provider workflows within the PsychPlus clinical platform.
  • Support psychiatry and therapy workflows: Help design and enhance product capabilities that support psychiatric care, therapy services, provider-patient interactions, medication-related documentation, and continuity of care, as applicable to the platform.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with Engineering, UX/UI Design, QA, Clinical Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood, solutions are practical, and features are delivered successfully.
  • Lead Agile product execution: Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily coordination as needed, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and product demonstrations to maintain alignment and delivery momentum.
  • Champion provider and patient experience: Use stakeholder interviews, user feedback, workflow analysis, and usability testing to identify friction points and drive meaningful product improvements.
  • Support clinical quality and compliance: Partner with relevant clinical and compliance stakeholders to ensure product requirements account for patient safety, privacy, security, and applicable healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Drive product releases: Coordinate requirements readiness, acceptance testing, release planning, stakeholder communication, and rollout activities for new clinical features and enhancements.
  • Measure product performance: Track feature adoption, workflow efficiency, user satisfaction, and recurring pain points to evaluate product impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain clinical product documentation: Keep product requirements, workflow diagrams, business rules, user stories, and acceptance criteria clear, accurate, and accessible to cross-functional teams.
  • Continuously improve the platform: Stay informed about behavioral health technology, EHR/EMR capabilities, clinical workflow best practices, and evolving healthcare requirements to help guide product decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or in a similar product-focused role within healthcare technology.
  • Hands-on experience with EHR/EMR systems or clinical software is required.
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare workflows, preferably within behavioral health, psychiatry, therapy, or outpatient clinical care.
  • Experience gathering requirements from clinical users and translating complex workflows into clear product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Working knowledge of clinical workflows such as patient intake, clinical assessments, encounter documentation, treatment planning, follow-up care, and care coordination.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing requirements, and collaborating with engineering and design teams to deliver software features.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both clinical and technical teams and translate between clinical terminology and technical requirements.
  • Understanding of healthcare privacy, security, and regulatory considerations, including HIPAA.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver in a fast-paced, high-growth healthcare technology environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or managing products for behavioral health, mental health, psychiatry, therapy, telehealth, or digital health platforms.
  • Experience supporting both in-person and virtual care delivery workflows.
  • Familiarity with psychiatric and therapy practice workflows, including initial evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, follow-up visits, and provider documentation.
  • Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards and integrations, including HL7, FHIR, and other relevant healthcare data exchange standards.
  • Experience working with clinical operations, licensed providers, multidisciplinary care teams, and healthcare compliance stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with product analytics and feedback tools used to measure feature adoption, user engagement, and workflow performance.
  • Experience using Figma, Miro, or similar tools to document workflows, map user journeys, and collaborate on product design.
  • Experience in a high-growth health technology company or a product-led healthcare organization.
What Success Looks Like
  • Improved clinical efficiency: Providers can complete essential clinical tasks with fewer unnecessary steps and less administrative friction.
  • Better provider experience: Clinical users report improved usability, clearer workflows, and greater confidence in the platform.
  • Successful product delivery: Prioritized clinical features are delivered with well-defined requirements, clear acceptance criteria, and effective cross-functional coordination.
  • Increased feature adoption: New clinical capabilities are adopted by providers and care teams and contribute to measurable workflow improvements.
  • Reliable clinical workflows: Product enhancements support consistent documentation, effective care coordination, and appropriate handling of clinical information.
  • Continuous product improvement: User feedback, product performance, and evolving clinical needs inform ongoing prioritization and roadmap decisions.
  • Alignment with the PsychPlus mission: Product improvements help clinicians focus on delivering quality care and support a more accessible, convenient mental health care experience.
