Job summary

Keka HR is seeking a Principal Frontend Engineer to set the frontend technical direction across our platform. You will own architecture, performance, reliability, and the overall quality bar, while guiding teams through standards and reference implementations.

This is a leadership role focused on scalable UI systems, design systems, and frontend best practices, with an emphasis on collaboration with Product, Design, QE, and backend teams.

Qualifications

• 13+ years in frontend and web engineering with principal/staff-level impact across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in modern JavaScript and TypeScript and React at scale.
• Proven track record designing large-scale UI systems and running incremental migrations (codemods, dual-running, compatibility layers).
• Strong command of frontend performance profiling, observability, and accessibility (WCAG).
• Excellent technical communication (RFCs, design docs) and a track record of influence without authority.

Responsibilities

• Own large-scale frontend architecture and system design across multiple products, defining target-state architecture and path to it.
• Set strategy for micro-frontends and monorepos, including module boundaries, shared dependencies, build orchestration, and versioning.
• Architect the design system across web and mobile, including token architecture, theming, and versioning.
• Define state management strategy and responsive design standards across products.
• Author RFCs for frontend decisions and drive cross-team consensus.
• Own release planning and rollback strategies (feature flags, canaries, rollback-by-design).
• Own frontend performance through bundle analysis, budgets, and memory profiling.
• Set frontend security best practices (OIDC/OAuth, SSO, CSP, XSS/CSRF).
• Own CI/CD and deployment strategy for frontend, with observability and debugging.
• Mentor senior/lead engineers through design reviews and influence hiring standards.
• Maintain familiarity with backend API design to shape contracts and collaboration.
