Job summary

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Lahore seeks an Application Scientist to support the Physics Department, delivering advanced laboratory instruction and developing modern experimental content for PHY 300/500 courses. The role covers design, maintenance, and innovation in laboratory setups in collaboration with faculty and students.

The candidate will work on instrumentation integration, data acquisition, and automation, while ensuring pedagogical effectiveness and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as required in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Systems, or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in laboratory instruction, experimental physics, instrumentation, or laboratory development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and manage advanced laboratory courses (PHY 300/500) with student engagement.
• Provide hands-on guidance during lab sessions to strengthen experimental skills.
• Design, develop, test, and upgrade physics experiments aligned with curriculum.
• Integrate advanced instrumentation, optical systems, sensors, automation tools, electronics, and data acquisition.
• Modernise legacy experiments with contemporary techniques.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot equipment and systems.
• Support laboratory resource management including procurement and safety compliance.
• Prepare and update manuals, documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
• Mentor and support students on laboratory projects and collaborate with faculty.
