Job summary

Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is seeking a Pharmacist for the Pharmacy-KHR. The role involves dispensing in inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory pharmacies, reviewing orders, and ensuring safe, accurate medication delivery across AKUH facilities in Pakistan.

The ideal candidate holds a Pharmacy degree with registration in Pakistan, at least one year of experience, and readiness to work shifts in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university.
  • Current registration with Pharmacy Council Pakistan.
  • At least one year of experience in a reputable organization.
  • Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations and pharmacology concepts.
  • Knowledge of locally available drugs and their indications.
  • Excellent communication with medical staff and patients.
  • Willingness to work in shift duties.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense drugs in inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory pharmacies.
  • Review physician orders for accurate therapeutic doses.
  • Monitor laboratory reports for antibiotics and drug interactions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients.
  • Ensure accuracy of the labels before dispensing.
  • Complete expiry of drug list accurately and on time.
  • Assist in patient counseling for outpatient prescriptions and cash handling.
  • Prepare cytotoxic drugs, TPN solutions, IVPB mixtures, sterile injections, bulk compounding and monitor chemo lists.

Introduction

  • ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients
  • ensure accuracy of the labels before dispensing
  • complete expiry of drug list accurately and on timely-basis
  • assist in patient counseling for outpatient prescription and maintenance of cash
  • prepare cytotoxic drug, TPN solution, IVPB mixtures, sterile injection, bulk compounding and monitor chemo critical list.
Requirements

You should have:

  • a Doctorate / Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university
  • current registration with pharmacy council Pakistan
  • at least one year experience in a reputable organization
  • familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning and processessound knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical concepts
  • knowledge of locally available drugs, pharmaceutical drugs and their indications
  • excellent communication skills, particularly with medical professionals and patients
  • willingness to work in shift duties
