Job summary

The Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Pharmacist in Pharmacy, Lahore. You will dispense drugs across inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory pharmacies, review physician orders for accurate dosing and monitor lab reports for drug interactions and indications.

Responsibilities include timely delivery of medications, accuracy of labels, expiry management, and patient counselling for outpatient prescriptions.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist must hold a Doctorate / Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university.
• Traineeship or ~1 year experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning and drug indications.

Responsibilities

• Dispense drugs in inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory pharmacies.
• Review and process physician orders for accurate dosing.
• Monitor lab reports for antibiotic indications and drug interactions.
• Ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients.
• Verify labeling accuracy before dispensing.
• Maintain expiry lists and stock control.
• Assist in patient counselling for outpatient prescriptions and cash handling.
• Prepare cytotoxic drugs, TPN solutions, IVPB mixtures, sterile injections and chemo products.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

• dispense drugs in the inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory pharmacies
• review and process physician orders for accurate therapeutic doses
• monitor Laboratory Reports for proper indication of antibiotics, drug-drug interaction, duplication of same class etc
• ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients
• ensure accuracy of the label before dispensing
• complete expiry of drug list on accurate and timely basis
• assist in patient counselling for outpatient prescription and maintenance of cash
• prepare cytotoxic drug, TPN solution, IVPB mixtures etc
• prepare sterile injection, bulk compounding and monitoring of chemo critical list

perform any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

You should have:

• a Doctorate / Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university
• traineeship experience in a medium / large hospital or preferably one year experience in the similar capacity
• familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning
• sound knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical
• familiarity with locally available drugs, pharmaceutical and their indications
• ability to communicate with medical professionals
• willingness to work in shift duties
