Job summary

OpenSpace in Islamabad seeks an Accountant II to manage day-to-day accounting for the Pakistan office and support the wider accounting team. You will handle journal entries, AP, GL, month-end close, and assist with tax filings and audits.

The role requires 2–4 years of accounting experience, a bachelor’s in accounting/finance/commerce, and strong Excel skills. Fluency in English and Urdu is preferred, with emphasis on accuracy and vendor management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• 2–4 years accounting experience.
• Exposure to Pakistani withholding and sales tax and audits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain books for the Pakistan office: journal entries, accounts payable, general ledger, and month-end and year-end.
• Process vendor invoices and staff expense claims, run payments, and manage petty cash and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare the monthly reporting pack, including a month-on-month cost forecast and cash requirement.
• Coordinate with external tax consultants on filings, withholding and sales tax schedules, and deadlines.
• Handle routine banking and documentation for inward remittance.
• Procure office equipment, furniture, and supplies; manage vendor relationships and invoices.
• Monitor office supplies and keep administrative spend under control.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules; oversee asset issue/return and physical verification.
• Arrange repair/maintenance and coordinate with contractors and landlords.
• Support audit requests and provide documentation for statutory audits.
• Maintain compliance calendar for SECP, FBR, EOBI filings and other statutory requirements.
