A leading technology firm in Lahore is seeking an experienced Oracle DBA with at least 8 years of expertise in Oracle 19c and a strong background in performance tuning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing database migrations and upgrades and resolving performance issues. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in high-pressure environments are essential.

Job description

At least 8 years' experience as Oracle DBA (10g, 11g, 12c, 19c)

Hands on experience with Oracle 19c implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects on Exadata and Oracle Cloud Platform.

Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. Demonstrated knowledge and skills using tuning features like SQL Tuning Advisor, SQL Access Advisor, Automatic Workload Repository and Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor.

Strong knowledge of Oracle 19c and technical database concepts, such as: physical data modeling, tuning large instances, PDB/CDB, resource management, data replication and backup/recovery techniques

A least three years of working knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), Oracle Enterprise Manager (Oracle OEM/Grid Control), Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Database Security.

Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities

Experience in handling and supporting enterprise, high profile, mission critical and dynamic 24x7 large-scale Oracle environments with high availability and scalable performance requirements

Proven experience in Performance Tuning of Database and SQL

Knowledge of Backup and Recovery - RMAN including exposure to plan and strategize backup and recovery operations. Proven experience in Database backups and restores using RMAN

Experience in supporting both Development and Production Database environments

The candidate must be able to drive Product issues to resolution and register all steps in document following ITIL processes.

Ability to provide L3 support.

Working knowledge of operating systems such as Windows Server, Unix, Linux, AIX, etc.

Preferred Skills:

Oracle Certified Expert (RAC/ Performance Tuning)

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Good written and oral communication skills

Good interpersonal skills

Willingness to work a flexible schedule and be “on call” to accommodate project deadlines and business requirements

Job Specification

Perform analysis and end-to-end execution from roadmap to implementation of database consolidations, migrations, conversions and upgrades

Drive upgrade and management of large, complex Oracle databases currently running on Oracle 11g/12c environments on Linux and Exadata to Oracle 19c with features for PDB/CDB, data compression, partitioning, RAC, RMAN, Data Guard

Lead analysis of business and application requirements to translate into new or modified database or data capabilities

Requirements analysis, data architecture, integrated database design, data security, performance tuning, back-up and recovery specifications

Consult for optimal design of DB environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performance

Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new product features to tailor solutions for database requirements

Use optimization techniques such as projections and partitioning

IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX etc.)

Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.

Crash/Recovery of Databases

Database Performance Analysis & Developing Tuning Approach

Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.

Documenting any Bad SQL Queries and support Application team for fine tuning.

Participate in Change Management Process

Preparing Backup and Restore Strategy and implementation.

DR Plan, Implementation and Management

Consultancy (if required) developers in optimizing SQL query and support to application development team during the development, testing, pre-production and post-production phase.

Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.

Communicate with external teams including the biz clients on various issues and resolutions thereof to provide best customer experience

Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.

Analyze database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.

Consultancy for DB Upgrades and Enhancement.

Security Compliance Preparation and Implementation plan.

Perform database transaction and security audits
