Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for full-time night shifts at the South Overland Park Campus. You will perform processing, testing, and reporting of specimens across multiple lab areas, exercising independent judgment under supervision.

The role involves pre- and post-analytical tasks, documentation, adherence to quality control, and communication with clinical staff to ensure accurate patient results. On-call hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical skills and aptitudes related to laboratory testing.
• Follows and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities.
• Maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities.
• Operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation and results.
• Educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and analytical procedures accurately per hospital procedures.
• Participate in proficiency testing and regulatory compliance.
• Report results and provide technical support for age-diverse patients.
• Assist in education and training for clinical staff.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and evaluate new equipment.
• Follow safety policies, PPE usage, and chemical handling guidelines.
• Handle hazardous waste training and proper disposal.
• Assist in onboarding new employees and support department operations.
