The Network Admin Engineer / Network Operations Center (NOC) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of the company's global IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on network systems. This position is responsible for proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and first‑line troubleshooting of network devices, servers, applications, and security systems. The NOC Specialist will work in a 24/7 environment, collaborating with various IT teams and business units to maintain high availability and performance of mission‑critical systems across diverse geographical locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring and Surveillance
- Continuously monitor network performance, health, and security events using a variety of monitoring tools.
- Proactively identify and alert potential issues, anomalies, and service degradations across WAN, LAN, WLAN, and connectivity locations.
- Monitor critical applications, communication links, and infrastructure.
- Incident Management & Response
- Act as the first point of contact for all IT networks infrastructure‑related incidents reported by users or detected by monitoring systems.
- Perform initial triage, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of network, server, and application issues.
- Escalate incidents to appropriate Level 2/3 support teams following defined escalation procedures.
- Document all incidents, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps accurately in the IT Service Management ticketing system.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis efforts for recurring incidents.
- System Administration & Maintenance (First‑Line)
- Full support, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade of corporate networks.
- Install and integrate new server hardware and applications into the network.
- Apply needed updates and upgrades; assist with patching and upgrading activities.
- Support and administer third‑party applications.
- Ensure network security and connectivity.
- Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, latency) and test for weaknesses.
- Resolve problems reported by end‑users.
- Define network policies and procedures.
- Specify system requirements and design solutions.
- Research and recommend server system administration practices.
- Perform routine system checks and health assessments of routers, switches, firewalls, Wi‑Fi access points, and communication links.
- Execute basic configuration changes and system reboots as per documented procedures.
- Security Operations (First‑Line)
- Monitor security alerts from SOC platform and other security tools.
- Perform initial investigation of suspicious activities and escalation to the Cybersecurity team as required.
- Adhere to all company security policies and procedures.
- Communication & Reporting
- Provide timely and clear communication to stakeholders regarding incident status, planned outages, and service impacts.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on network performance, incident trends, and system availability.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge‑base articles.
- Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work effectively within a 24/7 shift rotation, ensuring seamless handover of duties and information.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., Infrastructure, Applications, Onsite IT) to resolve complex issues and implement solutions.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, FortiGate, Azure, etc.) are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar IT operations role, preferably within a large enterprise environment.
- Experience with network monitoring tools.
Required Skills
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols).
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS, FortiGate, and other network operating systems.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Landing Zone and Microsoft Azure Certification(s).
- Exposure to virtualization technologies.
- Experience in cloud migration.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and tools is beneficial.
