Engineering Manager, Identity and Growth, Hyderabad, India
Engineering Manager responsible for leading a high‑performing team of engineers to enable rapid consolidation of platforms to a unified authentication and authorization experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of high‑performing engineers, ensuring retention through challenging professional opportunities and career growth prospects.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders across platform, back‑end, and client engineering; program management; champion engineering excellence.
- Develop standards and toolsets for efficient, cost‑effective provisioning workflows.
- Identify new opportunities and enhancements and feed them to the shared roadmap for prioritization.
- Identify and manage partner relationships internally and externally to ensure smooth integration into the WBD product delivery process.
- Manage complexity and uncertainty associated with new product development.
- Influence and champion process, tools, operations, and technological improvements to operate global‑scale cloud‑based platform services.
- Mentor other software development engineers throughout the organization, building the next generation of leaders.
- Build self‑service tooling to automate platform adoption of identity services for both internal and external stakeholders.
What to Bring
- Bachelor’s degree with 10‑15 years of experience in the industry and at least 3‑5 years leading and managing software development teams.
- A record of building, scaling, and growing teams of 5+ engineers and ownership of an engineer‑first software service/product.
- Strong technical understanding of Kubernetes‑based microservice architectures, messaging services, database services, API gateways, service mesh, and infrastructure‑as‑code technologies/processes.
- Familiarity with modern Java features and Spring Boot.
- Direct experience with AWS (other cloud providers desirable).
- Experience in authentication and authorization systems with a high bar for engineering and operational excellence.
- Experience in large‑volume transaction systems and data migration workflows, focusing on quality, precision, and accuracy metrics.
- Ability to identify and operationalize workflows into a self‑serve system with appropriate guardrails.
- Experience building and operating global‑scale large platform services in non‑prod and prod environments.
- Experience establishing and improving data‑driven infrastructure and service KPIs such as performance, scale, availability, reliability, and security.
- A strong understanding of security best practices and a high bar for protecting customer data.
- Experience working across cross‑functional engineering teams as stakeholders and partners consuming a global platform service.
- Effective communication skills, good balance of empathy, leading by example, player‑coach as needed, influence and drive change.
- Demonstrated experience building systems using agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
