Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), UET, Lahore, has an opening for Manager Research to join its Software Systems Research Lab Group. This group is focused to explore the links between open source software development and academic research as a better paradigm for OSS development. Enterprise level systems and web based solutions are undertaken as a part of open source software development, with best-of-breed open source technologies and superlative business practices.
Since 2002, the group has designed and built a number of bespoke web solutions that implement complicated business logic and complex workflows. The group members consist of innovative, creative and technical professionals, who have their expertise in Enterprise level development, Software Analysis and Design and Software Testability.
This research group is currently focusing on the application of SOA in domains of e-Government, e-Health, e-Learning, and Intelligent Sensor Networks. Major emphasis in this research initiative is to use open-source tools and technologies for the SOA enabling in said domains. A state-of-the-art SOA-based framework for solving inter-operability issues in e-government has been recently proposed as outcome of research activities of the team.

Job Specification

MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering with 4-years BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering degree.
Post MS 5+ years of experience in Research and Development.
Experience with industrial Software and Embedded Solutions development is desired.
Experience in Applied Research and Development based projects is desired.
Strong command in SOA, JavaEE, and related Technologies based on Open Source like JavaEE 5, EJB3.0, Spring, Hibernate, Toplink, Ant, EMMA, MI, JUnit, Cactus, Abbot, JBoss, GlassFish, Web Services, RESTful Web Services, Netbeans, Eclipse, etc .
Have completed at least two Research/Commercial level projects.
Have delivered at least one Research/Commercial level software product from concept to release.
Have at least two research publications in International/National conferences.

Responsible for management of Multiple Projects/Products under way. Leading teams in delivering the research and development based projects on defined scope, timeline and within the budget. Set new state-of-the-art research goals and develop new applied research and development proposals. Identify bottlenecks in ongoing research initiatives and guide team members in their research directions.
