Job summary

Al-Shifa Medical and Dental Center in Swabi, Pakistan seeks a Women Medical Officer to provide clinical care to female patients in OPD, wards and labour ward, managing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care with leadership in the labour ward.

The role requires independent decision-making, CTG interpretation, obstetric emergencies management, teaching juniors, and use of EHRs. This is a full-time on-site position with opportunities in governance and teaching.

Qualifications

• Must-have: MBBS or equivalent medical degree with PMDC registration.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years dedicated experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Independent management of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
• Labour ward leadership and senior clinical decision-making.
• CTG interpretation and escalation.
• Ability to perform obstetric procedures and emergency surgical interventions.
• Surgical experience: abdominal hysterectomy, laparotomy for ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cystectomy.
• Acute gynecological emergency management and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care and consultation to female patients in OPD and wards.
• Independently manage antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal patients.
• Lead and make senior clinical decisions in the labour ward.
• Interpret CTG traces and accelerate fetal/maternal concerns promptly.
• Manage obstetric emergencies (PPH, eclampsia, sepsis, shoulder dystocia).
• Perform obstetric procedures and emergency interventions independently.
• Perform relevant surgical procedures (abdominal hysterectomy, laparotomy for ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cystectomy) as required.
• Manage acute gynecological emergencies.
• Conduct risk assessment and practice with patient safety focus.
• Participate in clinical audits, research projects and implement evidence-based guidelines.
• Teach and supervise junior doctors and medical students; work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide effective patient counselling and shared decision‑making; maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Use electronic health records and MS Office for clinical documentation and reporting.
