Job summary

Game District is seeking a talented Lead Concept Artist to steer visual ideation and concept development for our games. You’ll work closely with Art, Game Design, Product, and other creative teams to establish a strong visual direction and translate ideas into production-ready concepts.

The role requires mentoring junior artists, guiding the art pipeline, and ensuring concepts translate smoothly into mobile-game environments.

Qualifications

: 5+ years of professional experience in Concept Art, Game Art, or a closely related field.
: Strong understanding of shape language, composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, anatomy, and visual storytelling.
: Portfolio demonstrates high-quality character, environment, prop, and/or key art concepts.
: Experience creating concepts for games and understanding game production pipeline.
: Proficiency in Photoshop, Procreate, Illustrator, or equivalents.
: Hands-on experience with Unity and translating concept art into game environments.
: Strong communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.
: Ability to lead and collaborate with an art team independently.

Responsibilities

Lead the concept art direction for characters, environments, props, UI elements, and other game assets.
Develop high-quality concept art, sketches, mood boards, visual explorations, and style guides.
Establish and maintain a consistent visual language and art style across the game.
Translate game design requirements and creative briefs into strong visual concepts.
Provide clear visual direction and references to 2D/3D artists and other production teams.
Review artwork and provide constructive feedback to maintain quality and consistency.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level concept artists, helping improve their artistic and technical skills.
Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Art Directors, 3D Artists, Animators, UI/UX Artists, and other stakeholders.
Explore multiple visual directions and iterate quickly based on feedback.
Research current artistic trends, competitor games, and relevant visual styles for inspiration.
Ensure concepts are practical and suitable for production within mobile game constraints.
Help define and document art pipelines, workflows, and quality standards.
Take ownership of concept development from initial ideation through final handoff to production.
