Job summary

The Dutchess County BOCES invites applications for a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (SLP preferred) to assess, diagnose, and provide direct speech, language, and hearing intervention for students with communication disorders.

Working within a school-based setting, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to develop IEPs that support academic, social, and functional success while aligning with IDEA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or Special Education.
• Active state certification as a TSHH or TSSLD.
• 1–2 years in a K-12 setting with direct IEP experience.
• Preferred: ASHA CCC-SLP and state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Administer standardized evaluations to determine eligibility for services.
• Write clear, measurable IEP goals and deliver therapy services; maintain compliance records.
• Provide articulation, language, fluency, voice and AAC interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents and support staff to implement IEPs across the curriculum.
• Monitor progress, prepare quarterly reports and present findings at CSE/IEP meetings.
