Octdaily in Karachi is seeking a Junior Cyber Security Engineer to assist with vulnerability assessments, basic penetration testing, and security operations under guidance from senior engineers. You will support reconnaissance, scanning, and reporting tasks while helping triage incidents and maintain security tools.

The role requires a CS/Cybersecurity/IT background, networking fundamentals, familiarity with security tools, and scripting abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Cybersecurity, IT, or equivalent.
• Basics of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, firewalls).
• Familiarity with tools like Nmap, Burp Suite, Wireshark, Metasploit is a plus.
• Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and vulnerability classes.
• Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing vulnerability assessments and basic penetration tests under senior guidance
• Support the offensive security team with reconnaissance, scanning, and reporting tasks
• Monitor security alerts and help triage potential incidents
• Help maintain and configure security tools (vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, SAST and SCA tools)
• Document findings clearly and assist in writing vulnerability/penetration test reports
• Participate in patch management and remediation tracking
• Stay current with emerging threats, CVEs, and attacker techniques
• Support security awareness initiatives and basic security hardening tasks

This role is ideal for someone early in their offensive/defensive security career who wants hands-on exposure to vulnerability assessment, penetration testing support, and security operations, while working closely with senior engineers and the offensive security lead.

• Assist in performing vulnerability assessments and basic penetration tests under senior guidance

Required Qualifications
