Job summary

SZABIST - Islamabad Campus is seeking an IT / Network Support Officer to maintain campus network infrastructure and ensure smooth IT operations. The role requires hands-on on-site tasks, cable installations, and active monitoring of network performance.

You will work with routing, switching, VPN, and firewall configurations while supporting events and user connectivity. Two years of experience in network support is expected.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in network support.
• Experience with routing, switching, VLANs and dynamic routing protocols.
• Familiarity with VPNs, firewall rules and OpenVPN.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN devices.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, VLANs, and dynamic routing issues to ensure uptime.
• Perform regular hardware maintenance and upgrades to extend device life.
• Manage network cabling infrastructure and on-site installations.
• Monitor network performance using PRTG and Solar Winds to pre-empt failures.
• Implement network security measures and respond to security incidents.

The officer is responsible for managing routine network cabling and installation activities, configuring dynamic routing protocols, maintaining VPN and firewall functionalities, and monitoring network performance through tools like PRTG and Solar Winds. By actively contributing to network security and system efficiency, this role supports the overall campus IT infrastructure's stability and reliability without direct management of a team.
