Job summary

SMEC seeks a motivated Lab Technician for a key hydropower project based in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. You will conduct laboratory and field tests on concrete, aggregates, soil, and other materials to support project quality and compliance with specifications.

With 8+ years in construction materials testing, you will assist QA/QC engineers, maintain equipment, and produce accurate reports while collaborating with site and project teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in construction materials testing or laboratory work.
• Experience in hydropower, dams, infrastructure, or major civil construction projects is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of testing methods for concrete, aggregates, and soil.
• Familiarity with QA/QC requirements.
• Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field tests on concrete, aggregates, soil, and other construction materials.
• Collect, prepare, label, and test material samples in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Monitor and record test results and prepare laboratory reports and quality documentation.
• Assist QA/QC engineers in verifying the quality and compliance of construction materials.
• Conduct field testing and support site inspections as required.
• Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment and report any issues.
• Assist in identifying and reporting material test failures or non-conformances.
