Job summary

Aga Khan University Hospital in Hyderabad, Pakistan, seeks a Head Nurse for Nursing Services to lead 24/7 staffing, ensure quality patient care, and coordinate with physicians and support services. The role requires a BScN with licensing and a track record in nursing leadership.

Ideal candidates will have at least four years of experience, including two in management, CPR and PALS certifications, and strong communication skills to engage patients and families while guiding a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• BScN from an accredited school with valid PN C license (Pakistan Nursing Council).
• Minimum four years’ relevant experience, with at least two in nursing management.
• CPR, Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, IV Cannulation and PALS certifications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work in mornings, evenings and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage 24/7 staffing scheduling per hospital standards and be available for shift needs.
• Ensure timely physician rounds and review patient regimens for accuracy.
• Meet patients and families to address complaints and concerns about care.
• Collaborate with support services to ensure quality care and meet patient requirements.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams on quality projects to improve unit processes.
• Establish and monitor unit standards, goals and priorities.
• Mentor nursing staff and promote creativity and staff development.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

• manage 24/7 staffing scheduling as per the hospital standards set for assuring quality and safe patient care and remain available for shift schedule as per needs
• exhibit excellent management in executing quality patient care and ensure that physician rounds for all patients are timely completed, patients are reviewed and monitored for the treatment modalities and patient regimens are being accurately followed
• regularly meet patients and their families to resolve complaints and issues relating to care and any other related concerns
• collaborate with all support service departments to ensure quality care and meet requirements of patients
• work with multidisciplinary teams on quality projects to improve unit core processes
• establish and ensure that unit-based standards, goals, objectives and priorities are prepared and monitor against the standards
• encourage creativity, initiative and innovativeness in nursing staffs and mentor nursing workforce for provision of good services and staff development.

Requirements:

You should have:

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school, preferably a Master’s degree in the same field, and a valid license from the Pakistan Nursing Council
• at least four years of relevant experience, of which at least two years of experience should be at a nursing management level
• certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, I/V Cannulation, and Paediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
• excellent interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
• ability to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines
• willingness to work in shift duties (mornings, evenings and nights).
