Job summary

Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan seeks an Emergency Physician Informaticist to optimize the EHR programme, enhance clinical workflows, and integrate EHR systems into daily practice. The role reports to the CMIO and supports clinicians across settings.

The incumbent will mentor trainees, collaborate with physicians, nurses, and researchers, and play a pivotal role in advancing clinical information systems while traveling as needed for programme requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Medical College (MBBS or MBChB or MD).
• 2 years of experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Residency training in Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Rotational/Clinical experience with inpatient, outpatient, peri-operative settings.
• Experience with direct patient care responsibilities.
• Knowledge of hospital/physician practice procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
• Understanding of clinical care pathways, treatment plans, order management, and physician documentation.
• Experience working effectively with physicians, nurses, residents, and students.
• Clinically trained for inpatient and outpatient venues of care.
• Prior experience with use of an electronic health record (EHR) preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Support physicians, nurses, and staff by providing continuous support and troubleshooting for clinical information systems.
• Promote system functionality by identifying and testing clinical information systems.
• Identify workflow issues and define system requirements to optimize performance.
• Serve as a clinical resource for non-clinical team members and domain expert for clinical workflows.
• Train super users and end-users on AKU OneHealth.
• Provide go-live support to clinicians at elbows-length.
• Assist with development of educational content related to clinical and non-clinical domains.
• Gather requirements and enhancement requests through focus groups for AKU OneHealth.
• Assist medical researchers with retrospective studies, data analysis, interpretation, and publication.
