Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to carry out activities related to prosecution and defense in lawsuits to protect the company's interests.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering amendments to laws, rules, and regulations from federal, provincial, and statutory bodies, and present them to the supervisor for review.
- Coordinate with SSGC departments at the Head Office to collect necessary documents and follow up on lawsuits or other legal matters.
- Prepare initial drafts regarding legal views on issues related to litigation, highlighting key points that may impact SSGC, based on laws, rules, regulations, and research.
- Provide case details and supporting documents to external counsel and share the company’s legal perspective for litigation.
- Assist in preparing and executing “Vakalatnama” for appointing legal counsel.
- Coordinate with legal counsel to initiate and follow up on lawsuits filed by or against the company, developing and reviewing legal documents and ensuring the company's interests are protected.
- Represent SSGC at court hearings when required.
- Participate in preparing, vetting, and serving legal notices related to the company.
- Seek feedback from relevant departments to determine the company's stance on legal matters.
- Vet legal documents and drafts, providing paragraph-wise input for risk analysis and impact assessment.
- Assist in representing the company in arbitration and dispute settlement discussions.
- Maintain good relationships with court officials to facilitate legal procedures.
- Update management on ongoing legal cases and generate reports on potential legal risks.
- Study court decisions on legal issues, evaluate their impact on the company, and advise management accordingly.
- Advise on legal and regulatory changes and their implications for the company.
- Support junior legal staff in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
- Comply with risk management frameworks and participate in related activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
