Job description

To lead and manage day-to-day production operations of the Foam & Spring manufacturing segment, ensuring efficient utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and resources to achieve production targets while maintaining required standards of quality, safety, productivity, and cost control. The position will be responsible for production planning, process optimization, troubleshooting, manpower management, continuous improvement, and coordination with cross-functional departments to ensure smooth and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

• Plan, organize, and supervise daily production activities for Foam and Spring manufacturing operations.
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets as per business requirements.
• Monitor production performance against planned targets and take corrective actions for deviations.
• Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, raw materials, and production capacity.
• Control production losses, wastage, rejection, rework, and material consumption.
• Ensure smooth production flow and minimize machine/process downtime.
• Monitor production KPIs including productivity, efficiency, yield, rejection, downtime, wastage, and OEE.
• Identify process abnormalities and coordinate with Technical, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams for timely resolution.
• Manage spring production operations including wire forming, spring coiling, assembly, and related processes.
• Ensure compliance with approved specifications, dimensions, strength, and quality parameters.
• Monitor machine performance and coordinate with Maintenance for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Reduce spring production defects, material wastage, machine downtime, and rework.

Production Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate with Planning, Sales, Warehouse, Quality, Maintenance, Procurement, and R&D to ensure production requirements are fulfilled.
• Review production plans and arrange manpower, materials, machinery, and other resources accordingly.
• Ensure timely completion of urgent and priority production orders.
• Highlight capacity constraints, material shortages, and operational bottlenecks to management.

Covers, Quilting and Stitching

• Manage fabric cutting, quilting, stitching, piping and zipper operations.
• Ensure covers are manufactured according to approved dimensions, designs and specifications.
• Control fabric consumption and cutting wastage.
• Ensure proper stitching strength, seam quality, zipper positioning and finishing.

People & Manpower Management

• Lead, supervise, and develop production staff, supervisors, and workers.
• Ensure optimum manpower deployment according to production requirements.
• Develop a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Process Control

• Ensure production is carried out according to approved SOPs, work instructions, specifications, and quality standards.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance to reduce customer complaints, rejection, and process defects.
• Implement root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for recurring production issues.
• Ensure first-time-right production and minimize rework.

Cost Control & Productivity Improvement

• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising quality.
• Control raw material consumption, wastage, overtime, utilities, and other production-related costs.
• Drive productivity improvement initiatives and establish measurable improvement targets.
• Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies, PPE requirements, fire safety procedures, and plant safety standards.
• Ensure production activities comply with applicable company policies and statutory requirements.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Coordinate with Maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Support troubleshooting of production machinery and process-related problems.
• Monitor recurring equipment failures and participate in root-cause analysis.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

• Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Analyze production KPIs and identify performance gaps.
• Present production performance, issues, corrective actions, and improvement plans to management.
• Maintain accurate production records and ensure timely reporting through relevant systems/HRIS/ERP where applicable.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering.

Experience:

• 5-7 years of relevant production/operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
