Job summary

Burq is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure powering our data-driven decisions. You will work closely with product, operations, and engineering teams to ensure clean, reliable data for insights, from optimizing delivery routes to enhancing customer experiences.

This is an opportunity to build scalable data systems from the ground up and shape our analytics and AI capabilities as part of a small, ambitious team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• SQL proficiency and one of Python/Scala/Java
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
• Hands-on data streaming with Kafka or Kinesis is a plus
• Builder mindset, comfortable with ambiguity in a small team

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines from multiple sources
• Model data for analytics, ML, and operations
• Own and maintain data infrastructure using cloud-native solutions
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to deliver data products
• Implement data quality monitoring, validation, and governance
• Ensure scalable architectures that grow with the business
