Job summary

LIPTON Teas and Infusions is seeking a Contract Manufacturing Lead in Karachi Head Office to manage a portfolio of contract manufacturing sites, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and cost controls are met. The role requires strong collaboration with QA, R&D, procurement and logistics teams.

You will drive continuous improvement, provide technical support, and analyze performance data to support strategic decisions in a fast-paced beverage environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering preferred).
  • Engineering degree or procurement experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Tea category or prior tea industry experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production schedules and performance of assigned contract manufacturers.
  • Implement and oversee quality control with QA, addressing deviations promptly.
  • Serve as main liaison between the company and contract manufacturers to ensure alignment.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts with manufacturing partners to maintain positive relationships.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and coordinate with internal teams on standards and costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on performance and costs to support decisions.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, QA, R&D and Logistics for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Coordinate and manage various projects involving contract manufacturers.

Job description

Job Title: Contract Manufacturing Lead
Location: Karachi Head Office

Job Purpose:

As a Contract Manufacturing Lead reporting to the CM Lead Global, your primary responsibility will be to manage a specific set of Contract Manufacturing sites within the broader landscape overseen by the senior role. This is an important position, in that it plays a crucial role in supporting the overall success of contract manufacturing operations.

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Operational Oversight of the sites under her/his control:
  • Production Monitoring: Regularly monitor and track the production schedules (incl. innovation networks) of assigned Contract manufacturers. Ensure that production targets are met efficiently and in accordance with established timelines.
  • Quality Control: Implement and oversee quality control measures, working closely with the Quality Assurance team. Address any deviations from quality standards promptly and collaborate on corrective actions.
  • Relationship Management: Communication Hub: Act as the primary liaison between the company and the assigned Contract Manufacturing producers. Foster transparent and effective communication channels to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure alignment with company expectations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify potential issues and conflicts. Facilitate resolution discussions and work towards maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with Contract Manufacturing partners.
  • Technical Support: Hands-On Assistance: Provide direct technical support to Contract Manufacturing partners, helping them navigate and overcome technical challenges. Collaborate with the internal technical team to ensure alignment with the company's technical standards. Oversee R&M and other related spends to maintain cost effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Propose and implement enhancements to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting (operational and costs): Performance Metrics: Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to the performance of assigned Contract manufacturers. Develop comprehensive reports highlighting key performance indicators, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Decision Support: Assist the Contract Manufacturing Lead in utilizing data & cost insights to make informed strategic decisions. Provide recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Quality Assurance, R&D, and Logistics. Ensure all teams are well-informed and aligned on activities related to assigned Contract Manufacturing manufacturers.
  • Project Coordination: Facilitate the coordination of various projects involving Contract Manufacturing manufacturers. Ensure seamless execution and timely completion of projects by coordinating efforts across different functional areas.
Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Engineering degree or procurement experience is a plus. Knowledge of Tea category or prior experience in working in a Tea organization would be a plus.

Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to comprehend and address technical aspects related to manufacturing processes, as well as a good business acumen.

Attributes: Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Experience:

4-6 years of experience in various functions of supply chain operations.

Familiarity with contract manufacturing processes or managing a site/manufacturing facility.

Prior experience in Tea is an advantage.

Willingness to learn and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ability to engage and manage a wide range of stakeholders across the regions.

Have a transformation mindset and ability to question status quo.
