NexaQuanta in Lahore is seeking an experienced Backend Developer (Python) to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and REST APIs powering our products. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions while upholding code quality, security, and scalable architecture.

This role focuses on microservices, event-driven systems, and modern DevOps practices within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of Python software development.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and Pydantic.
• Experience with SQLAlchemy including migrations and query optimisation.
• Strong OOP fundamentals and knowledge of functional programming.

About the Job

NexaQuanta is looking for an experienced Backend Developer (Python) to join our growing engineering team in Lahore. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and REST APIs that power our products. You\'ll work closely with cross-functional teams — including product, frontend, and leadership — to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, while upholding high standards of code quality, security, and system architecture. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Python developer to work on microservices, event-driven systems, and modern DevOps practices in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in developing features and new products.


• Develop solutions according to specified business requirements.


• Define and write up the technical spec, including the appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards.


• Demonstrate and present implementation to team leaders/heads/CTO.


• Build and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI, with Pydantic for data validation.


• Implement Unit and Integration Tests using Pytest.


• Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.


• Participate in code reviews, identifying anti-patterns in the code and refactoring opportunities.


• Other duties as deemed necessary by their superior from time to time.

Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science or related field.


• Minimum of 5+ Years experience in software development and coding in Python.


• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and Pydantic.


• Experience with an ORM such as SQLAlchemy, including migrations and query optimisation.


• Strong OOP fundamentals and working knowledge of functional programming concepts.


• Experience writing tests with Pytest (fixtures, mocking, test coverage).


• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.


• Technical mindset with great attention to detail.


• Understanding of software quality assurance principles.


• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.


• Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) and event-driven systems.


• Experience in SQL and NoSQL databases.


• Some experience in RabbitMQ or Kafka or other.


• Experience in developing microservices and managing containerized applications with Docker and Docker Compose.


• Some experience building websockets.


• Some level of experience with Kubernetes and IaC (Terraform, Helm).


• Be proficient in using version control and continuous integration, with tools such as Git and CI/CD pipelines.


• Understanding of web security standards and best practices.


• Basic working knowledge of AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, ECS or similar) will be an added advantage.
