Job summary

Mashreq is seeking an experienced compliance professional to support the Head of CIBG Compliance and Squad Lead in handling day-to-day KYC and name screening referrals. You will review high-risk KYCs, coordinate with Assurance Unit and Internal Audit, and ensure alignment with UAE regulations and bank policies.

The role requires strong knowledge of local and international regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coach analysts while maintaining strict adherence

Qualifications

  • Graduate with 5-10 years of corporate banking compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory rules and international requirements (FATCA/CRS).
  • Proficient in English, with good presentation skills.
  • Risk-based problem solving and informed decision making.

Job Purpose
  • Support Compliance Management (Head of CIBG Compliance and Squad Lead) when assigned to support the team in handling day-to-day KYC and name screening referrals and ensuring compliance with the Bank’s KYC Standards and regulatory requirements while reviewing high risk KYCs within the agreed SLA TAT.
  • Act the point of contact with Compliance Assurance Unit and Internal Audit to facilitate the independent RCSA testing and internal audit engagements, and coordinate with CIBG Compliance Squad Lead to address the noted critical errors of Squad members resulting from above engagements.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness/knowledge of all applicable regulations set by UAE regulators and bank Compliance policies and standards as well as the existing/emerging legal/statutory/regulatory environment in U.A.E as the guiding reference for the role’s engagement with all internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and quality assurance oversight to Compliance Officers and Analysts, including review of complex cases and identification of skill development needs.
  • Support Squad Lead in attending business scrums to assist business divisions to achieve their business goal and tackle inefficiencies by providing compliant solutions in consultation with Squad Lead and management.
  • Act as delegated backup for the Squad Lead during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of advisory support, case allocation, escalation management, stakeholder engagement and delivery against SLAs.
  • Support Head of CIBG Compliance to prepare and submit management reports as guided by HO- Compliance from time to time.
  • Support Head of CIBG Compliance in expediting operational risk activities including but not limited to Operational Risk Register review, RCSA, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning.
  • Act as the LEAN Champion for CIBG Compliance to ensure alignment of its periodic huddle meetings with the LEAN Sustain requirements.
  • Ensure timely periodic SOP review to align CIBG Compliance processes and controls with the applicable regulatory or bank policy/standards updates in coordination management for timely approval of the SOP updates.
  • Role has solid reporting line to Head of CIBG Compliance and dotted reporting line to Squad Lead whose guidance and feedback on performance is key for satisfactory appraisal of this role’s performance.
Key Result Areas
  • Maintaining proactive relationships with business and operations stakeholders, facilitating timely involvement to ensure compliant solutions to business issues are adequately in order.
  • Timely review and updating of SOP as well as review of bank-wide compliance policies and standards when assigned by management.
  • Lead periodic huddle meetings to raise staff awareness and ensure all staff understand their obligations as per bank’s policies and standards and ensure satisfactory Lean Sustain audit outcome.
  • Timely submission of all reports/MIS on issues relating to CIBG Compliance.
  • Pro-active coordination with the relevant business or operations stakeholders to ensure timely response to Compliance related queries/investigations of UAE Central Bank/HO/Other regulators as and when assigned by management.
  • Timely and professional representation of CIBG compliance in any ad hoc projects as directed by CIBG Compliance Management.
  • Satisfactory internal audit outcome for the role’s responsibilities.

  • Operates in complex environments that are characterized by diverse local and international regulations; thus requiring multi-jurisdictional knowledge.
  • Familiarity with banking law and practices as well as MB policies and procedure and systems.
  • Working relationships with the Business Management, Departmental Managers, and other Officers without compromising on independence and professionalism.
Problem Solving
  • Analytical thinking is key and educative judgment on regulations and their branch wide implementation in coordination with Squad Lead
  • Clear understanding of business transactions, initiatives and relationship requirements with close coordination with relationship team without losing focus on risk, regulations and control issues.

  • Contribute in the development of systems, policies, standards and procedures related to compliance
  • Maintain and develop proactive relations with business and operations units.
  • Responsible for administrative and office support as detailed above.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Graduate with 5-10 years of corporate banking compliance experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local regulatory rules and legislation, and various international requirements relevant to corporate and investment banking business including but not limited to FATCA/CRS Compliance requirements
  • Computer literate with proficient command over spoken and written English.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Efficient and logical risk-based approach to problem solving.
  • Informed decision-making capability.
