Job summary

Global Rescue is seeking an Associate Software Architect in Islamabad to lead the design and delivery of robust software systems, blending hands-on coding with technical leadership. You will set architecture standards, mentor engineers, and ensure alignment with business goals and security requirements.

Role involves working across microservices, data platforms, and cloud environments, shaping delivery practices while maintaining performance and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 8+ years in software development; 3+ years in architecture/leadership; strong design and microservices knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Spring AOP, and Angular/TypeScript.
• Experience designing/integrating RESTful APIs, WebSockets, queues (SQS/RabbitMQ/Kafka), IoT MQTT, Keycloak; OIDC/SAML.
• Relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases; Redis; S3; performance optimization.
• Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and AWS (CloudFormation, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IoT).
• JUnit, Git/GitLab, Maven, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving; effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and implement enterprise architecture across applications, microservices, integrations, and data platforms.
• Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, tools, and platforms to deliver solutions aligned with long-term strategy.
• Provide hands-on leadership by implementing services, frameworks, and complex components.
• Develop production-grade software using Spring Boot, microservices, JPA, Hibernate.
• Create, review, and execute unit tests supporting test-driven development.
• Mentor engineers, run code reviews, unblock complex technical challenges.
• Own the team’s build and release tooling (Git/GitLab, Maven); drive DevOps across cloud operations.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, scalability constraints, and performance bottlenecks.
• Ensure non-functional requirements such as availability, resilience, security, and compliance.

Role Overview

The Associate Software Architect is a hands-on technical leader who designs and builds robust, scalable, and secure software systems while guiding the day-to-day delivery of the engineering team. This role provides technical leadership, defines architecture standards, contributes production code alongside the team, and ensures that solutions align with business objectives, performance requirements, and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and implement enterprise architecture across applications, microservices, integrations, and data platforms — ensuring scalability, security, performance, and long-term maintainability aligned with business objectives.
• Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, tools, and platforms to deliver solutions and services aligned with long-term strategy.
• Provide hands-on leadership by implementing services, frameworks, and complex components to set technical direction and quality benchmarks.
• Develop complex, production-grade software using frameworks/tools like Spring Boot, microservices, JPA, Hibernate and MySQL consistently following coding standards/best practices.
• Create, review, and execute unit tests using automated testing frameworks to support test-driven development and ensure the functional integrity of solutions.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase while mentoring less-experienced engineers, running code reviews, and unblocking the team on complex technical challenges.
• Own the team’s build and release tooling — source control and configuration management (Git/GitLab), build automation (Maven), and CI/CD pipelines — and drive DevOps practices across cloud operations, automation, and system observability.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, scalability constraints, and performance bottlenecks.
• Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements such as availability, resilience, security, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field
• 8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles, with strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
• Proven, hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Spring AOP, and Angular/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, WebSockets, message queues (SQS/RabbitMQ/Kafka), IoT using MQTT, IDP (Keycloak) and authentication protocols such as OIDC and SAML.
• Hands-on experience with relational (MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB), caching strategies (Redis), object storage (S3), and performance optimization.
• Working experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and AWS (CloudFormation, ECS, EKS, Serverless/Lambda, AWS IoT, EC2, API Gateway).
• Hands-on experience with JUnit, Git/GitLab, Maven, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Proficient in leveraging AI-powered tools for coding, testing, documentation, and productivity improvement.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work directly with product and QA stakeholders and keep a team on track in a fast-paced environment.
