Job summary

Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for the position of Associate, Research Office. The role supports the Research Office in developing, coordinating, and evaluating content to enhance AKU’s research visibility and impact.

You will lead content development for the AKU Research Magazine and website, produce the monthly Research Nexus newsletter, plan social media content, and translate complex research into clear materials for diverse audiences, with a focus on accuracy and engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree will be an advantage).
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in content development, media, digital marketing, or related roles, preferably in higher education, research, non-profit, or development sectors.
• Ability to translate technical, academic, or research information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• Strong English language skills with excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling abilities and a high level of attention to detail.
• Familiarity with social media platforms, analytics tools, content management systems, and digital publishing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support development of content for the AKU Research Magazine by interviewing researchers and coordinating with stakeholders to gather information, photos, and inputs for stories.
• Maintain and update the AKU Research website and digital platforms with research stories, feature articles, news, announcements, and other web content.
• Assist in producing the Research Nexus monthly newsletter by gathering, editing, and coordinating updates from research teams and partners.
• Support development of content and materials for key research initiatives, events, meetings, and campaigns, including posters, flyers, presentations, and other materials.
• Assist in planning and developing social media content for Research Office and AKU channels, including stand-alone posts and campaign content, and support multimedia asset production.
• Translate technical and academic research information into clear, accessible content for internal and external audiences.
• Coordinate with researchers, faculty, research teams, and other stakeholders to gather information and develop timely and accurate content.
• Assist in monitoring and evaluating activities, including digital and social media performance, audience engagement, and content reach.
• Undertake other related tasks assigned by the Manager, in support of departmental priorities.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Associate will support the Research Office by contributing to the development, execution, and evaluation of activities that enhance the visibility, reach, and impact of AKU’s research. The position will support research storytelling, digital content development, newsletters, and related materials while coordinating with researchers and other stakeholders.

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

• Support the development of content for the AKU Research Magazine, including interviewing and coordinating with researchers and other stakeholders to gather information, photographs, and inputs for story development.

Requirements

You should have:
