Job summary

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean at the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Karachi, Pakistan. The role centers on strategic oversight of undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes, curriculum leadership, and innovative teaching across classroom, clinical, and digital modalities.

You will lead accreditation compliance, student recruitment strategies, and engagement with national and international bodies, while guiding faculty development and research

Qualifications

• PhD or doctoral degree in Nursing or related healthcare discipline.
• Eligibility to be appointed at Associate Professor or above.
• Leadership in nursing education, curriculum development and faculty development.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards for nursing and midwifery education, preferably in Pakistan.
• Strong record of educational innovation, research, and securing external funding.
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes.
• Lead curriculum development, review, implementation, evaluation and improvement.
• Promote innovative teaching methods and educational technologies.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Develop strategies to strengthen student recruitment and enrolment.
• Support student progress, appeals and grievances.
• Conduct educational audits of clinical placement sites.
• Collaborate with AKU Health Systems Nursing Education Services.
• Promote evidence-based clinical practice and research in education.
• Oversee planning, implementation and budgeting of strategic initiatives.
• Mentor faculty and support career development and succession planning.
• Represent the School in committees and liaise with accrediting bodies.
• Pursue research funding and supervise Master’s/PhD students.
• Collaborate to develop new undergraduate programmes and partnerships.
