Job summary

LUMS invites an Application Scientist to support physics education in the Physics Department. You will help deliver PHY 300/500 courses, guide students during labs, and develop modern experiments.

You will design, test, and upgrade setups, integrating optics, sensors, data acquisition, and FPGA-related activities. Collaborating with faculty and staff, you will maintain equipment, document procedures, and support research initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, or related field from an HEC-recognised institution.
• 01–02 years of relevant laboratory instruction or development experience.
• Ability to mentor students and collaborate with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and manage advanced laboratory courses, including PHY 300/500, with effective instruction and student engagement.
• Provide technical guidance to students during laboratory sessions to strengthen experimental and analytical skills.
• Design, develop, test, and upgrade physics experiments aligned with curriculum requirements and modern practices.
• Integrate instrumentation, optical systems, sensors, automation tools, electronics, and data acquisition into experiments.
• Modernize legacy experiments using contemporary instrumentation and techniques.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot laboratory equipment and systems; support safety and reliability.
