Job summary

Standard Chartered in Karachi invites applications for a 3-year ACCA Trainee Programme designed to propel Affiliates toward full membership and a long-term career in finance. The programme blends on-the-job learning, formal training, and guided mentorship to build strong technical, analytical, and business partnering skills.

Trainees rotate across Financial and Regulatory Reporting, Balance Sheet Management, Financial Controls, Business Finance, Tax, and Group Internal Audit, while gaining

Qualifications

  • Be ACCA Affiliate at the time of application and actively pursuing full ACCA membership.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent recognized by HEC.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiar with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of management, statutory, and regulatory reports.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reviews.
  • Help maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects and process improvements.
  • Develop technical and professional skills through structured learning and on-the-job coaching.

About The Programme

The 3 year ACCA Trainee Programme has been designed specifically for ACCA Affiliates who are ready to take the next step towards full membership and a long-term career in finance. This structured programme combines on-the-job learning, formal training, and guided mentorship to help you build strong technical, analytical, and business partnering skills.

Rotations & Exposure

As an ACCA Trainee, you will gain exposure across key specialist and business-facing finance units, including:

  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting – Support the preparation of financial statements, regulatory returns, and disclosures in line with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Balance Sheet Management – Assist in monitoring balance sheet risks, liquidity, funding, and capital, and support analysis to optimise the bank’s financial position.
  • Financial Controls Unit – Contribute to the implementation and testing of financial controls, reconciliations, and process improvements to strengthen the control environment.
  • Business Finance – Partner with business units to support budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, and decision-making.
  • Tax – Support tax compliance, reporting, and analysis, and assist with tax-related queries and projects.
  • Group Internal Audit – Gain insight into risk and control assessment by assisting in audits, documentation of findings, and follow-up of remediation actions.

Eligibility Criteria
To Be Considered For This Programme, You Must
  • Be an ACCA Affiliate at the time of application (all ACCA exams completed) and possess a Bachelors degree/equivalence recognized by HEC.
  • Be actively working towards full ACCA membership.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of financial and management accounting principles.
  • Have strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with other MS Office applications.
