Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs.

• Prepare and clean materials for welding; remove contaminants.
• Position and secure parts using fixtures, clamps, and tack points.
• Monitor welding process for quality and conformity.
• Inspect finished welds for defects (cracks, porosity, incomplete fusion).
• Maintain and clean welding equipment; report malfunctions.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and document welding activities.

About the role

This is a welding operations role focused on performing various welding techniques, preparing materials, ensuring weld quality, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project requirements
• Select and set up welding equipment, including choosing the appropriate welding method based on materials and specifications
• Perform various welding techniques, such as arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and oxy-acetylene welding
• Prepare and clean materials for welding by removing rust, scale, and other contaminants
• Position and secure metal parts or structures using fixtures, jigs, clamps, and welding tack points
• Monitor the welding process to ensure quality and conformance to specifications
• Inspect finished welds for defects, such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion
• Maintain and clean welding equipment regularly and report any equipment malfunctions
• Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while performing welding activities
• Keep detailed records of welding activities, including project details, welding parameters, and inspection results
