Job Summary
The Visual Merchandising Officer is responsible for planning, developing, and executing visual merchandising strategies across all stores to strengthen brand identity, enhance the customer experience, and support sales performance.
The role requires a strong creative and commercial eye, with the ability to translate product launches, marketing campaigns, sales priorities, and global brand guidelines into compelling in-store executions.
The ideal candidate should be highly strategic and forward-thinking, with strong knowledge of the cosmetics and beauty industry, including product categories, beauty trends, customer behavior, and how consumers shop and discover products in-store.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Merchandising Strategy & Planning
- Develop and manage the VM calendar aligned with product launches, campaigns, promotions, seasonal events, and key commercial periods.
- Plan visual merchandising concepts and executions in advance to ensure timely and consistent rollout across stores.
- Translate global/principal VM guidelines into locally relevant and commercially effective executions.
- Develop strategies for product placement, store zoning, category adjacencies, focal points, and customer journey.
- Identify opportunities to improve store productivity through stronger product visibility and presentation.
- Develop VM strategies for different formats, including standalone stores, shop-in-shops, kiosks, pop-ups, and outlets.
Product & Commercial Merchandising
- Have a strong understanding of cosmetics
- Identify the most effective ways to highlight hero products, new launches, best sellers, and commercial priorities.
- Work closely with Merchandising to understand sales performance, inventory availability, and product priorities.
- Use sales and product-performance insights when recommending changes to displays and product positioning.
- Strategically merchandise products to encourage discovery, cross-selling, regimen building, and additional purchases.
- Understand how different beauty categories should be presented and tested to create an engaging customer experience.
VM Execution & Store Standards
- Develop planograms, VM guidelines, store zoning plans, and display directives for store implementation.
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards across all locations.
- Conduct regular store visits and VM audits and provide actionable recommendations.
- Ensure displays remain updated, complete, clean, commercially relevant, and aligned with current campaigns.
- Coordinate changes in store displays based on launches, promotions, inventory situations, and commercial priorities.
- Support VM requirements for new store openings, renovations, relocations, pop-ups, and special events.
Campaign & VM Material Management
- Plan VM requirements for upcoming launches and campaigns, including POSM, testers, display materials, graphics, props, and fixtures.
- Coordinate the production, allocation, and deployment of VM materials to stores.
- Ensure VM materials are produced and deployed on time and within budget.
- Monitor the condition and utilization of VM materials and recommend replacement or improvement when necessary.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams for VM production and installation requirements.
Competitive & Trend Analysis
- Regularly monitor beauty, cosmetics, retail, and visual merchandising trends locally and internationally.
- Conduct competitor store visits and identify relevant ideas, innovations, and opportunities.
- Recommend new VM concepts based on customer behavior, emerging beauty trends, and changing retail environments.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve the brand's in-store experience and visual impact.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, E-commerce, Construction
- Coordinate with Merchandising on product assortment, stock availability, hero products, and commercial priorities.
- Partner with Marketing to translate campaign concepts into effective in-store customer experiences.
- Communicate VM guidelines clearly to store teams and ensure proper implementation.
- Present VM concepts, strategies, and recommendations to management when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Visual Merchandising, Interior Design, Marketing, Fashion, Fine Arts, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Preferably 2-4 years of Visual Merchandising experience, ideally in cosmetics, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, or specialty retail.
- Strong creative eye combined with commercial and strategic thinking.
- Good understanding of cosmetics, beauty trends, customer behavior, and retail environments.
- Experience in VM planning, planograms, store zoning, campaign rollouts, and multi-store execution.
- Strong planning, organization, and project-management skills.
- Able to interpret sales information and translate commercial priorities into VM actions.
- Comfortable conducting frequent store visits and overseeing physical VM execution.
