Job summary

Asiacruit BPO, Inc. is seeking a US Tax Specialist in the Philippines to support US-based clients with tax return preparation, workpapers, and research.

You will handle federal, state, and local returns, including Form 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements. Ideal candidates have experience in US tax, familiarity with W-2/1099/K-1 forms, and knowledge of tax planning and advisory support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in U.S. tax preparation, tax compliance, public accounting, or a related role.
  • Practical experience preparing U.S. federal and state tax returns.
  • Experience working with individual returns is preferred.
  • Experience with partnership, S corporation, and C corporation returns is preferred.
  • Familiarity with U.S. tax forms including 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S.
  • Knowledge of tax workpaper preparation, book-to-tax adjustments, and return reconciliation.
  • Experience supporting U.S. clients or working with a U.S.-based CPA or tax firm is preferred.
  • Experience working in a remote or offshore accounting environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate federal, state, and local tax returns in accordance with U.S. tax laws and client procedures.
  • Prepare individual income tax returns, including Form 1040 and related schedules.
  • Prepare business tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120-S.
  • Assist with fiduciary, estate, gift, nonprofit, payroll, or sales tax filings when required by the client.
  • Enter and validate tax data using professional tax preparation software.
  • Review prior-year tax returns and identify carryforwards, elections, credits, and reporting requirements.
  • Calculate taxable income, deductions, credits, estimated tax payments, and tax liabilities.
  • Prepare federal and state extension requests and estimated tax payment calculations.
  • Complete multistate returns and related schedules based on client requirements.
  • Assist with amended returns and other corrective tax filings.
  • Ensure returns are complete, internally consistent, and supported by documentation.
  • Prepare tax returns for reviewer approval and respond promptly to review comments.
  • Organize client-provided tax documents, financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and review-ready tax workpapers.
  • Reconcile tax information to accounting records, payroll reports, bank statements, and prior-year returns.
  • Prepare book-to-tax reconciliations and calculate applicable tax adjustments.
  • Review Forms W-2, 1099, K-1, 1098, and other tax documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track outstanding client information and prepare lists of missing documents.
  • Maintain complete and organized electronic tax files using the client’s document-management system.
  • Document assumptions, calculations, tax positions, and unresolved matters clearly.
  • Follow client workpaper standards, naming conventions, and documentation requirements.
  • Protect confidential taxpayer information throughout preparation and review.
  • Conduct research on federal and state tax matters using approved tax research tools.
  • Summarize tax research findings clearly for client or reviewer.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, filing requirements, and compliance procedures.
  • Assist with tax notices, correspondence, penalty inquiries, and document requests from authorities.
  • Prepare draft responses and supporting documentation for review.
  • Maintain tax filing calendars and monitor deadlines.
  • Assist with electronic filing procedures and track return acceptance or rejection notices.
  • Investigate rejected filings and help resolve issues.
  • Follow tax-preparer standards, quality-control procedures, and data-security requirements.
  • Escalate uncertain or complex positions to the appropriate reviewer.
  • Assist with individual and business tax projections.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations and payment schedules.
  • Identify potential deductions, credits, elections, and tax-saving opportunities.
  • Support entity selection, retirement contributions, depreciation, and income timing analyses.
  • Assist with year-end tax planning engagements.
  • Prepare tax planning schedules and scenario comparisons.
  • Identify unusual transactions or changes that may have tax consequences.
  • Communicate potential tax issues to superiors.
  • Support advisory projects for U.S. tax firm.

Education

Position Overview

The US Tax Specialist will support United States-based clients by preparing, organizing, and assisting with tax-related documentation and reporting. This role involves reviewing financial records, ensuring completeness and accuracy of tax data, preparing tax workpapers, and coordinating with internal teams or client contacts to resolve missing information. You will help maintain compliance by following tax best practices and client-specific requirements.

This position is ideal for a tax professional or accounting professional with experience supporting US clients, tax preparation work, or bookkeeping services for tax purposes.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Return Preparation

  • Request missing tax documents and clarify incomplete or inconsistent information.

  • Provide timely updates regarding return status, outstanding requirements, review notes, and filing deadlines.

  • Participate in virtual meetings, training sessions, and tax-season status calls.

  • Manage assigned returns and projects according to established priorities and turnaround times.

  • Coordinate with bookkeepers and accountants to resolve discrepancies in client financial records.

  • Maintain professional judgment when handling sensitive financial and taxpayer information.

  • Perform other tax, accounting, and administrative responsibilities based on the needs of the assigned client.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting U.S. clients or working with a U.S.-based CPA or tax firm is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working in a remote or offshore accounting environment is an advantage.
