New Cas Llc is seeking a U.S. Tax Accountant/Manager to work remotely from the Philippines for U.S. clients. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing complex U.S. tax returns, tax planning, and guiding clients through regulations.
You'll use Drake Tax and other software to handle multi-entity filings, support process improvements, and mentor junior staff. This is a full-time independent contractor engagement with ongoing remote work.
Philippines (100% Remote) · Full-Time Independent Contractor · $1,800–$3,400 USD/month
Be the expert clients trust at the moment it matters most — tax time. Prepare and review complex U.S. tax returns, support tax planning, and turn complex regulations into practical guidance clients can act on.
Cloud Accountant Staffing (CAS) is actively seeking experienced U.S. Tax Accountants with strong tax preparation skills and hands‑on experience using professional U.S. tax software.
We currently have two clients looking for candidates with hands‑on Drake Tax experience. We are specifically prioritizing professionals who have actually used Drake Tax to prepare and/or file U.S. tax returns, rather than candidates who are simply familiar with the software.
In this role, you'll manage multi‑entity tax preparation and review, maintain accurate workpapers, identify tax‑saving opportunities, and support clients through compliance and advisory needs. You'll collaborate with U.S.-based teams, contribute to process improvements, and help ensure accurate, timely tax filings.
You'll also have opportunities to mentor junior staff, strengthen internal procedures, and improve tax workflows through standardized checklists, review notes, and automation.
Note: This role is open to both Tax Accountant and Tax Manager candidates, depending on experience.
You have hands‑on experience preparing U.S. federal and state tax returns using professional tax software, ideally Drake Tax.
You can demonstrate how you've used Drake Tax in actual tax preparation and/or filing work.
You're detail‑oriented and practical, knowing when to investigate complex tax matters and when to move efficiently.
You can explain technical tax concepts, such as basis, §199A, and depreciation methods, in clear, accessible language.
You thrive during busy season because your SOPs, checklists, and deadlines are well organized.
You enjoy coaching others and improving the quality of tax preparation and review.
You look for automation opportunities and process improvements that reduce repetitive work.

Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040): Handle Schedules A, B, C, D, and E; Form 4797; Form 6252; passive activity losses; basis tracking; 1099‑B reconciliations; wash sale checks; carryforwards; and estimated tax payments.
Use Drake Tax or other professional tax preparation software to prepare and/or file U.S. tax returns accurately and efficiently. Candidates with direct, hands‑on Drake Tax experience are strongly preferred.
Manage multi‑state tax matters, including apportionment, nexus updates, composite and nonresident returns, and applicable pass‑through entity and SALT cap workaround elections.
Identify and document tax credits and elections, including R&D credits, Section 179 and bonus depreciation options, accounting method changes, and late‑election relief where applicable.
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules, including Form 4562, asset ledgers, disposals, and book‑to‑tax depreciation reconciliations.
Prepare audit‑ready workpapers with clear supporting documentation, tick marks, review notes, and reconciliations.
Manage e‑file submissions, acknowledgments, extensions, and follow‑ups.
Draft responses to IRS and state tax notices, track deadlines, and communicate next steps clearly.

Standardize SOPs, preparation checklists, review procedures, and quality‑control checkpoints.
Configure rules and automations within tax and accounting tools to reduce manual work.
Document process improvements and best practices in an evolving team playbook.
Keep every workpaper organized and easy to follow.
Maintain consistent folder structures, file naming, and complete documentation.
Ensure workpapers and supporting schedules are organized so reviewers can trace figures and understand decisions efficiently.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
3+ years of U.S. tax experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S.
Hands‑on experience with Drake Tax is a strong priority. You must have actually used the software to prepare and/or file U.S. tax returns; knowing the software's name or having general familiarity with it is not sufficient.
Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations, IRS procedures, and relevant accounting principles.
