Job summary

Paramount Life & General Insurance Corporation in Makati invites an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our Broker & Speciality Lines underwriting team. You will blend technical underwriting expertise, people leadership, and commercial partnership to drive sound decisions and profitable growth.

Based at Eurovilla Makati City with a Monday to Friday schedule (8:00 am–5:00 pm, 80% return-to-office), you will oversee a six-person underwriting team, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with sales

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry.
• At least 3 years of underwriting team leadership experience, with hands-on underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management.
• Understanding of reinsurance, underwriting governance, and third-party partner management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Underwriting: Assess risks, determine pricing and policy terms, and provide technical direction on complex cases.
• Develop the Team: Coach and lead six underwriters while remaining actively involved in hands-on underwriting.
• Partner with Sales and Brokers: Support key client discussions, negotiate terms, and explain underwriting decisions.
• Drive Portfolio Performance: Monitor profitability, claims experience, utilization trends, and emerging risks.
• Oversee Partners and Governance: Manage third-party providers, monitor service levels, and ensure compliance with underwriting standards and regulatory requirements.
