• Loading and unloading: Physically load and unload cargo from the truck using hand trucks or dollies, and securely stack and pad items to prevent damage during transport.
• Navigation and assistance: Help the driver with navigation, especially when backing up the truck, and may assist with communication duties.
• Customer service: Provide excellent customer service at delivery locations, which may include collecting payments or signatures.
• Vehicle maintenance and checks: Assist with basic vehicle upkeep, such as cleaning the cab and the cargo area, checking fluid levels, and performing pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Inventory and paperwork: Help verify that the correct items are being delivered, check against invoices or delivery receipts, and maintain accurate delivery records.
• Safety and compliance: Follow all traffic and safety regulations, and report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
