This role partners closely with Treasury Operations, Capital Markets, Financial Reporting, shared services, Financial Assurance, and external auditors to ensure investment activity is complete, accurately recorded, properly classified, and supported by high-quality analysis and documentation. The successful candidate will combine strong accounting fundamentals with analytical judgment and a continuous-improvement mindset. The role offers the opportunity to work with significant financial data, investigate exceptions, improve close and reporting processes, and help modernize Treasury Accounting through standardization, automation, and stronger data controls.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly cash-equivalent and marketable-securities reporting, including carrying value, amortized cost, accrued interest, fair value, realized gains and losses, unrealized gains and losses, and accumulated other comprehensive income.
  • Prepare support for quarterly and annual financial-statement disclosures, including marketable-securities footnote information and quantitative and qualitative market-risk analysis.
  • Reconcile investment activity and balances across the Treasury Management System, custodian reports, bank information, and the general ledger or consolidation reporting system.
  • Validate investment populations, security classifications, prices, maturity dates, cash flows, purchases, sales, paydowns, and unsettled transactions; investigate and resolve variances with the appropriate Treasury partners.
  • Prepare, review, and support manual journal entries and accounting corrections for marketable securities and related Treasury activity in accordance with GM accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain complete, review-ready support in the Company’s reconciliation and control-documentation tools.
  • Support Sarbanes‑Oxley control documentation, evidence collection, walkthroughs, testing, and remediation activities related to Treasury Accounting.
  • Coordinate with Treasury Operations, Capital Markets, Front Office, Middle Office, shared services, Financial Reporting, Tax, Financial Assurance, and external auditors to resolve issues and meet close and reporting deadlines.
  • Communicate clear explanations for period-over-period changes, valuation movements, classification differences, realized gains and losses, and other financial-statement fluctuations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate reconciliations, reporting, exception management, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, workpapers, analytical tools, and process documentation that improve transparency, scalability, and continuity within Treasury Accounting.
  • Apply sound judgment when evaluating unusual transactions, data-quality issues, system-interface exceptions, and potential accounting or disclosure impacts; elevate matters promptly when appropriate.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, treasury, investments, controllership, or a related finance discipline.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and the preparation or support of financial reporting and disclosures.
  • Demonstrated ability to reconcile complex financial information, investigate variances, and document conclusions clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage recurring close deliverables and ad hoc requests simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, lookups, pivot tables, and financial workpaper preparation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with accounting, Treasury, audit, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, sound judgment, and commitment to strong financial controls.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Certified Public Accountant designation or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience with marketable securities, cash equivalents, debt instruments, derivatives, fair-value accounting, or hedge-accounting support.
  • Experience preparing SEC reporting support, including 10‑Q or 10‑K disclosures.
  • Experience with a Treasury Management System, investment accounting, custodian reporting, or general-ledger-to-subledger reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with systems and tools such as Wallstreet or another Treasury Management System, SAP or another enterprise resource planning system, Bloomberg, custodian data, reconciliation tools, and documentation or workflow platforms.
  • Experience with process improvement, reporting automation, data visualization, or analytical tools such as Power BI, KNIME, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global operating model with shared-service and geographically distributed partners.
