Job summary

Cohu, Inc. in Laguna, Philippines is seeking a Tooling Specialist to drive tooling technology across our 502-Manufacturing Engineering operations.

You will optimize cutting tool life, set parameters, and monitor cost and efficiency while ensuring adherence to specifications and data sheets. You will collaborate with the Production floor, Programming, SCM, and Purchasing to forecast needs, manage tool inventory in ERP, qualify new tooling and suppliers, and introduce innovative tooling solutions

Qualifications

Experience applying cutting tool technology to manufacturing processes.
Proven ability to manage tool life, parameters, and cost reduction.
Collaborates with floor, programming, and purchasing to optimize tooling.
Defines tooling life cycle and inventory levels (min/max).

Responsibilities

Interacts with SCM and Production to align tooling needs with daily production volumes.
Defines and improves tooling performance with Programming and machinists.
Analyzes the tooling life cycle and monitors wear and performance.
Monitors Oracle ERP inventory levels for min/max and forecasts needs.
Forecasts tooling requirements with Production Planning and orders ahead.
Oversees tooling orders in collaboration with Purchasing and suppliers.
Establishes tooling recipes with Design Engineering for new designs.
Qualifies tooling and suppliers; manages cost and lead time.
Supports NPI activities with the PE Team for new tooling solutions.
