Overview

The Technical Support Engineer Broadband Build provides technical expertise and support for broadband network deployment projects. The role assists in planning, implementation, troubleshooting, and validation of broadband infrastructure such as fiber networks, access equipment, and customer connectivity solutions. The engineer works closely with project teams, field technicians, vendors, and network operations to ensure efficient and compliant broadband build execution.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support for Broadband Deployment
  • Provide technical support during planning, deployment, and commissioning of broadband infrastructure.
  • Assist with implementation of fiber optic networks, broadband access equipment, and related technologies.
  • Support field teams in resolving technical issues encountered during installation and build activities.
• Network Design & Validation
  • Review network designs and engineering plans to ensure technical feasibility and compliance with standards.
  • Validate installation and configuration of broadband equipment such as OLTs, ONTs, switches, and routers.
  • Assist in network testing, commissioning, and service activation.
• Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to broadband build and installation.
  • Provide remote and onsite support to field engineers and contractors.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to engineering teams when necessary.
• Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technical configurations, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is updated for operational handover.
• Vendor & Field Team Coordination
  • Work with equipment vendors and contractors to ensure correct installation and configuration of network components.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to field technicians and installation teams.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure installations meet telecom standards, quality requirements, and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in site inspections, technical audits, and network acceptance testing.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or related field.
  • 25 years experience in telecommunications, broadband deployment, or network support.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic networks, broadband access technologies, and IP networking.
  • Experience supporting field teams and troubleshooting network issues.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FTTH, GPON, or fiber broadband deployments.
  • Familiarity with network testing tools and fiber testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.).
  • Understanding of OLT, ONT, and broadband access network equipment.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, Fiber Optics Certification, or equivalent are an advantage.
