Job description

FieldAI is transforming how robots interact with the real world. Our growing R&D team is based in Boston, where we develop risk-aware, reliable, field-ready AI systems that tackle the hardest problems in robotics and unlock the potential of embodied intelligence. We take a pragmatic approach that goes beyond off-the-shelf, purely data-driven methods or transformer-only architectures, combining cutting-edge research with real-world deployment. Our solutions are already deployed globally, and we continuously improve model performance through rapid iteration driven by real field use.

About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Recruiter to help build our growing FAIRI (FieldAI Research Institute) team in Boston. This role goes beyond traditional full-cycle recruiting. You'll partner closely with engineering and research leaders to understand long-term hiring priorities, develop proactive talent strategies, and identify exceptional technical talent before they enter the market.

You’ll recruit for some of our most impactful technical roles while serving as a key contributor to talent strategy, market insights, candidate assessment, and hiring decisions. If you enjoy building relationships with world‑class researchers and engineers, navigating complex searches, and solving difficult hiring challenges, we'd love to meet you.

Approximately 10-15% of your time will support People Operations through onboarding, recruiting operations, process improvements, and initiatives that create an exceptional employee experience.

This is a fixed‑term position with an immediate business need. We are looking for someone who can start immediately. This role may evolve into a full-time role in the future depending on business need.

What You'll Do
Technical Recruiting
  • Own full-cycle recruiting from kickoff through offer acceptance.
  • Partner with engineering and research leaders to define hiring strategies, candidate profiles, and interview plans.
  • Recruit for specialized technical roles, including: Research Scientists, Research Engineers, Software Engineers, Engineering Managers, Simulation Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and Internship Programs
  • Build long‑term pipelines of exceptional talent through sourcing, networking, technical communities, research publications, conferences, GitHub, and LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Develop relationships with passive candidates and engage top talent long before they're actively looking.
  • Guide candidates through the interview process while delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Lead offer negotiations and help close highly competitive technical talent.
Strategic Talent Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted recruiting partner to engineering and research leadership.
  • Provide market insights on talent trends, compensation, competitor hiring, and candidate availability.
  • Help hiring teams make informed decisions through talent mapping, market intelligence, and thoughtful candidate assessment.
  • Continuously improve recruiting processes while maintaining a high hiring bar and an efficient hiring experience.
  • Maintain accurate ATS data, recruiting metrics, and hiring reports.
People Operations Support (10–15%)
  • Coordinate onboarding and ensure a seamless new hire experience.
  • Partner with People Operations on recruiting operations, onboarding logistics, documentation, and process improvements.
  • Support employer branding, recruiting events, university recruiting, employee referrals, and additional HR initiatives.
What You Have
  • 4–7 years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience.
  • Experience hiring highly technical AI/ML researchers, research engineers, software engineers, robotics engineers, hardware engineers, and similarly specialized technical talent.
  • Experience hiring PhD-level researchers, Research Scientists, or senior technical leadership.
  • Experience recruiting within startups, high‑growth technology companies, technical recruiting agencies, executive search firms, or a combination of these environments.
  • Strong sourcing skills using LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, Boolean Search, Google X‑Ray, research publications, conference attendee lists, and other technical sourcing tools.
  • Demonstrated success engaging passive candidates and building relationships with highly specialized technical talent.
  • Experience partnering closely with senior technical leaders and managing multiple high‑priority searches simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using ATS platforms such as Lever, Greenhouse, Ashby, or Workday.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast‑paced, evolving startup environment.
The Extras That Set You Apart
  • Experience recruiting for robotics, embodied AI, autonomous systems, machine learning, or AI research organizations.
  • Familiarity with AI research communities, technical publications, conferences, and open‑source ecosystems.
  • Experience using market intelligence and competitive talent insights to influence recruiting strategy.
  • Experience supporting onboarding or broader People Operations initiatives.
We Encourage You to Apply If You
  • Enjoy building relationships with exceptional researchers and engineers.
  • Love solving challenging technical hiring problems that require creativity and persistence.
  • Take pride in identifying talent before the rest of the market.
  • Thrive in a high‑growth startup where priorities evolve quickly.
  • Come from a technical recruiting agency and want to bring that pace and sourcing expertise in‑house.
  • Enjoy partnering with Engineering, Research, and People Operations to build exceptional teams.
