Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Owner to define and prioritize technical user stories.
• Resolve technical impediments with Scrum Master and PO.
• Participate in agile ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, demos, retrospectives.
• Provide daily technical guidance and direction for solution development.
• Be accountable for team-level technical decisions and direction.
• Prioritize and deliver user stories from the sprint backlog.
• Create and maintain design docs and technical roadmaps.
• Engage SMEs when required for user story development.

About the role

The Technical Lead drives the execution of the technical and architectural decisions made by the team, ensuring employment of the right practices, helping to problem solve and ensuring team members remain invested and collaborate. The Technical Lead often has to help coach developers, and may dive into work e.g. helping to pair program or teaching new practices or onboarding a new developer.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Product Owner in the writing and prioritization of technical user stories and enablers in the product backlog
• Work with Scrum Master and Product Owner to resolve and escape technical impediments
• Participate in team-level agile ceremonies, like backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, iteration demos and retrospectives
• Provide technical and development guidance to team members on a daily basis (e.g. set direction on technical solutioning, support code fixes, technical release planning, etc.)
• Accountable for team-level technical decision-making and direction
• Burn user stories from the sprint backlog to deliver on the team's iteration goals
• Create and maintain technical documentation, such as design documents, technical roadmaps, etc.
• Engage with subject-matter experts across the organization when they are required for user story development

About you

• Experienced developer or technical lead with exposure to other technical functions (e.g. operations, testing, etc.) and new technologies
• Can manage within a complex ecosystem of technology, vendors and other stakeholders
• Capable of developing solutions and solving problems as they surface, providing hands‑on coding support as needed
• Facilitate technical/business discussions within the team to help define the work needed to achieve minimum required business value
• Experience in setting direction for Developers within the team on solution development
• Seen as an expert within the technical components of the products and services delivered by their team
• Works with a focus on reusable and scalable solutions that are in‑line with the roadmap
• Strong communication skills with ability to align the team on complex technical decisions
• Ability to coach and mentor technical team members to assist in their personal development
• Strong leadership skills with an ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders
