In this role, you will serve as a critical liaison between our virtual CIO (vCIO) practice, internal project teams, clients, and vendors. You will play a hands-on role in ensuring client engagements run smoothly, from capturing meeting insights to driving project execution and delivering polished findings back to clients.
This is a unique blend of account management, technical advisory support, and project coordination, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced managed services or IT consulting environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Engagement and vCIO Support
- Attend and support virtual CIO (vCIO) meetings, capturing accurate and detailed meeting notes, action items, and decisions.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, building strong, long-term relationships.
- Present findings, project updates, technology recommendations, and roadmap progress to clients in a clear and professional manner.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language for client-facing communications.
Project and Scope of Work Coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are progressing according to defined scopes of work (SOWs).
- Track milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, proactively identifying and escalating risks or blockers.
- Assist in the creation and review of SOWs, proposals, and project documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of project status, client communications, and follow-up items.
Vendor Management and Procurement
- Work with technology vendors to source pricing, quotes, and solutions aligned with client needs.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and assist in making recommendations based on client requirements and budget.
- Maintain and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products and services.
Sales Support and Business Development
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing client accounts.
- Support the sales process by contributing technical insight to proposals and client presentations.
- Assist in renewing and expanding client contracts through proactive engagement and demonstrated value.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in a technical account management, IT project coordination, or managed services role.
- Strong foundational knowledge of information technology, including networking, cloud services, cybersecurity, Microsoft/cloud platforms, and IT infrastructure concepts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and projects simultaneously with a high degree of organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to stakeholders or clients.
- Experience working with or supporting a vCIO function or IT consulting practice is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with vendor procurement processes and technology quoting tools (e.g., ConnectWise, IT Glue, Autotask, or similar PSA/RMM platforms).
- Some sales acumen with a consultative, client-first approach.
- Experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or IT consulting environment.
- Exposure to IT roadmaps, business reviews (QBRs), and technology alignment processes.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and project management platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Monday.com, Asana).
- What Success Looks Like
- In the first 90 days, a successful TAM will have a solid understanding of all assigned client accounts, be actively supporting vCIO engagements, and have established clear workflows for project tracking and vendor coordination. Long-term success is measured by client satisfaction, project delivery quality, retention, and account growth.
- Skills and Attributes
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter who can manage competing priorities independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build trust with clients and internal teams alike.
- Analytically minded with a problem-solving orientation.
- Comfortable in both technical and executive-level conversations.
- Team player who collaborates cross-functionally.
