Job summary

AVENSYS CONSULTING INC. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. You will own month-end close, general ledger integrity, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting for a global business, partnering with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business discipline.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience in General Ledger, Financial Reporting, and Record-to-Report (R2R).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely, accurate GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Review, approve, and post complex journal entries, accruals, allocations, and reclassifications.
• Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and variance investigations.
• Analyze financial results, identify risks or unusual trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and management reporting packages.

What You'll Own

Financial Close & General Ledger

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.

• Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and variance investigations.
• Analyze financial results, identify risks or unusual trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
• Support the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and management reporting packages.
• Ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

Collaboration & Business Partnership

• Partner with Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
• Support internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate reporting requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen financial controls.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Support finance transformation initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across the accounting function.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business discipline.
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience in General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Record-to-Report (R2R), or General Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proven ability to perform financial analysis, investigate variances and solve complex accounting issues.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

It’s a Bonus If You Have

CPA certification or are actively pursuing your CPA qualification.

Experience in the payments, credit card processing, fintech, banking, or financial services industry.

Exposure to ERP implementations, finance transformation, automation initiatives, or process improvement projects.
