Job summary

Asiacruit is seeking a proactive System Engineer to join the IT operations team in the Philippines. You will design, implement, maintain, and optimize server, network, and cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance services.

You will work with development, security, and operations stakeholders to deliver operational excellence. The role requires 3+ years in systems engineering, strong Linux administration, virtualization, container tech, and cloud/IaC experience;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or site reliability engineering for Linux/Windows servers.
• Strong Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server familiarity.
• Virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and IaC/automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs) and security best practices.
• Monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) and troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell; relevant certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design & Implementation: plan, deploy, and configure on-premises and cloud servers, storage, networking, and virtualization.
• Automate provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using industry tools; assist in capacity planning.
• Systems Administration: patching, backups, user/permission management, log review; monitor health and respond to alerts.
• Security & Compliance: implement controls and support vulnerability assessments and remediation.
• Automation, Monitoring & Improvement: develop scripts and CI/CD pipelines; tune monitoring and alerting.
• Support & Collaboration: Level-2/3 incident support, on-call participation, post-incident reviews; mentor engineers.

Position Overview

On behalf of our client, Asiacruit is seeking a proactive and technically skilled System Engineer to join a dynamic IT operations team. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of server, network, and cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance services. You will report to the IT Manager and collaborate closely with development, security, and operations stakeholders to deliver operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Plan, deploy, and configure on-premises and cloud-based servers, storage, networking, and virtualization platforms. Implement automation for provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using industry tools and scripting. Assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Systems Administration & Maintenance: Perform routine system administration tasks including OS and application patching, backups, user and permission management, and log review. Monitor system health and respond to alerts, following established runbooks and escalation procedures. Maintain infrastructure documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protections, encryption) and follow least-privilege principles. Support vulnerability assessments, patch management, and remediation activities to meet regulatory requirements. Assist in audit readiness.
• Automation, Monitoring & Improvement: Develop and maintain automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments. Design, configure, and tune monitoring and alerting systems for actionable observability. Continuously evaluate new tools and process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
• Support & Collaboration: Provide level-2/3 support for production incidents, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to post-incident reviews. Collaborate with development, QA, and security teams to support troubleshooting and change management. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 3+ years of hands‑on experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or site reliability engineering supporting Linux and/or Windows server environments.
• Technical Skills: Strong experience with Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) and familiarity with Windows Server. Proficiency with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
• Cloud & Automation: Practical experience with one or more cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code or automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Networking & Security: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, load balancers, VPNs, and security best practices.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Experience with monitoring/logging/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting & Certifications: Ability to write scripts in Bash, Python, or PowerShell. Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CCNA) are a plus but not required.
