POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies. This role ensures compliance with sustainability regulations and disclosure requirements, leads initiatives to reduce environmental impact, enhances resource efficiency, and drives corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership, Strategy & Planning
- Lead, develop, and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with corporate goals, integrating ESG principles into daily operations across business units and departments.
- Establish short-term and long-term ESG objectives, KPIs, and reporting frameworks.
- Conduct materiality assessments and stakeholder consultations.
2. Environmental Protection & Resource Management
- Lead initiatives to reduce energy consumption, waste, and carbon footprint, including water conservation, material recycling and reuse, renewable energy adoption, and zero-waste initiatives.
- Oversee environmental compliance and ensure adherence to local and applicable international standards (GRI, SASB, ISSB, UN SDGs) and corporate policies.
- Manage sustainability projects such as recycling programs, green procurement, and renewable energy adoption.
3. ESG Reporting & Compliance
- Measure and report the company's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and track progress against reduction targets.
- Ensure adherence to Philippine environmental laws and applicable international standards (GRI, SASB, ISSB, UN SDGs), preparing disclosures and sustainability reports to promote transparency to stakeholders.Collect, analyze, and report sustainability data — including relevant financial figures — for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Write and submit periodic sustainability and ESG performance reports to the direct supervisor (SVP – Supply Chain) and senior management, on a defined and consistent schedule.
- Monitor regulatory updates and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental laws.
4. Risk Management
- Conduct materiality assessments to determine relevant ESG factors (e.g., carbon emissions, labor practices, resource scarcity) for risk identification and assessment.
- Analyze operations for unethical practices or resource scarcities and implement measures to improve resilience.
5. Governance & Ethics
- Support the development and administration of governance policies related to sustainability, including ethics, anti-corruption, and human rights due diligence.
- Coordinate with Legal/Compliance on ESG-related policy matters and grievance mechanisms.
6. External Assurance & Ratings Management
- Manage the organization's responses to ESG ratings and disclosure platforms (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics), as applicable.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with external partners, NGOs, government agencies, and suppliers to support sustainability initiatives.
- Lead internal awareness campaigns and training programs on sustainability topics.
- Serve as the organization's day-to-day point of contact on sustainability matters, escalating cross-unit issues to the direct supervisor as needed.
8. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify new technologies, trends, and opportunities to enhance sustainability practices.
- Evaluate and recommend sustainable materials, processes, and solutions.
- Benchmark performance against industry standards and competitors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Policy, Business, or related field. Master's degree or sustainability certification (e.g., ESG Certification) is a plus.
- 5–7 years of experience in sustainability management, ESG reporting, environmental compliance, or related roles.
- With experience in developing and executing sustainability strategies and programs.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, carbon accounting, and sustainability metrics.
- Experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks is an advantage.
