Job summary

ACCIONA Construction seeks a Sustainability & Environmental Specialist for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge project in the Philippines. The role focuses on implementing and monitoring environmental and sustainability requirements from pre-award through mobilization.

You will ensure compliance with Philippine regulations, manage environmental plans, and coordinate with contractors, laboratories, and authorities while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability on site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years in environmental management or sustainability.
• Experience with construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting and compliance monitoring.
• Proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental and sustainability performance on site.
• Ensure compliance with permits and project requirements.
• Support implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and site assessments.
• Coordinate monitoring of water, air quality, noise, and waste.

ACCIONA Construction needs to hire a Sustainability & Environmental Specialist for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge project in the Philippines. This is a key position to support the project during the pre-award and initial mobilization phase, ensuring that environmental and sustainability requirements are properly identified, monitored and implemented from the beginning of the project.

Job Description

Mission

Support the implementation and monitoring of the project’s environmental and sustainability requirements during the construction phase, ensuring compliance with Philippine legislation, permits, project specifications and environmental management plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental and sustainability performance on site.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and project requirements.
• Support the implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and site assessments.
• Monitor contractors’ and subcontractors’ environmental compliance.
• Manage environmental non-conformities, incidents and corrective actions.
• Coordinate monitoring of water, air quality, noise, waste and hazardous materials.
• Prepare environmental reports, indicators and supporting documentation.
• Support environmental training and awareness activities.
• Liaise with project teams, consultants, laboratories and authorities.

Required Skills and Competencies

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability.
• Experience in construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting, audits, EIA, environmental plans and compliance monitoring.
• Knowledge of Philippine environmental regulations.
• Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• LEED, GSAS, BREEAM or similar certification is an advantage.
