The Supply Chain Material Planner is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of materials and inventory throughout the supply chain to ensure efficient production and distribution processes. This role involves forecasting demand, planning inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams, and ensuring the availability of materials while minimizing costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand Forecasting:Analyze sales forecasts, historical data, and market trends to predict material needs and develop accurate demand plans.
Inventory Management:Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained. Develop and implement strategies to minimize excess inventory while avoiding stockouts.
Material Planning:Create and maintain material plans based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and inventory levels. Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Supplier Coordination:Collaborate with suppliers to manage lead times, delivery schedules, and order quantities. Resolve any issues related to material supply and quality.
Order Management:Place orders for materials and supplies based on the material planning process. Track and manage order fulfillment, including handling any delays or discrepancies.
Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in material planning, inventory management, and overall supply chain operations.
Data Analysis:Utilize data analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), such as inventory turnover, order accuracy, and supplier performance. Prepare and present reports on material planning and inventory status.
Cross-functional Collaboration:Work closely with production, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to align material planning with production schedules, promotional activities, and customer demand.
Problem Resolution:Address and resolve issues related to material shortages, delays, or excess inventory. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Compliance:Ensure that all material planning activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
Experience:Proven experience in material planning, inventory management, or supply chain management. Familiarity with ERP and SAP systems and planning software is desirable.
Skills:
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
Proficiency in using ERP systems and material planning software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory management, and procurement processes.
