Job summary

Metrobank is seeking a Strategic Support Officer within the Internal Audit Group to drive the QAIP program across the Bank and its subsidiaries. You will support policy development, risk-based assurance, and governance enhancements to strengthen control environments.

The role requires leadership in QAIP frameworks, collaboration with stakeholders, and coaching of the audit team to uphold regulatory standards and professional practices.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of QA experience within Internal Audit.
• Strong knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Experience with QAIP and improvement programs.
• Proficient in risk assessment processes.
• Experience in audit governance and monitoring.
• Familiar with internal audit methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and enhancement of the QAIP framework, standards, scorecards, and assessment tools.
• Conduct audit quality reviews and internal assessments to ensure compliance.
• Review planning, risk assessments, testing, documentation, and reports for quality.
• Monitor remediation plans and report results to senior management and Audit Committee.
• Coordinate QA initiatives across Metrobank subsidiaries under Group Supervision Policy.
• Develop and improve Internal Audit methodologies, policies, and operating guidelines.
• Assess emerging risks, industry changes, and regulatory shifts affecting priorities.
• Lead and support strategic initiatives within the Internal Audit Group.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address issues affecting project success and governance.
• Ensure Internal Audit practices align with regulatory expectations.
• Serve as alternate or peer reviewer for audit engagements.
• Review audit scopes, risk findings, and draft reports.
• Monitor audit plan execution and guide adherence to standards and timelines.
• Support objectives through continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing.
• Coach and mentor audit team members to strengthen technical and leadership skills.
• Support training, coaching, and knowledge transfer programs.
• Help ensure the team has required skills, experience, and certifications.

Job Summary

The Strategic Support Officer plays a critical role in strengthening the Internal Audit Group's effectiveness through the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) across the Bank and its subsidiaries. The role ensures compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards, BSP regulations, Internal Audit methodologies, and Audit Committee directives while driving audit quality, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position also supports the Group Head in advancing strategic and operational enhancements to Internal Audit policies, methodologies, and practices, ensuring risk-based, objective, and value-adding assurance activities that help protect and strengthen the organization. In addition, the role contributes to the assessment of the Bank's control environment and overall effectiveness of internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance, Governance & Audit Excellence

• Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of the QAIP framework, standards, scorecards, and assessment tools.
• Conduct audit quality reviews and internal assessments to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review audit planning, risk assessments, testing procedures, documentation, and reports to promote consistency and quality.
• Monitor remediation plans arising from quality assessments and report results to senior management and the Audit Committee.
• Coordinate quality assurance initiatives and assessments across Metrobank subsidiaries under the Group Supervision Policy.

Strategic Support & Transformation

• Support the development and continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, policies, and operating guidelines.
• Assess emerging risks, industry developments, and regulatory changes that may impact audit priorities and strategies.
• Lead and support strategic initiatives, projects, and enhancement programs within the Internal Audit Group.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address issues affecting project success, governance, and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure Internal Audit practices remain aligned with regulatory expectations and professional standards.

Audit Review & Advisory Support

• Serve as alternate or peer reviewer for audit engagements.
• Review audit scopes, risk assessments, findings, recommendations, and draft reports.
• Monitor audit plan execution and provide guidance to ensure adherence to established standards, timelines, and budgets.
• Support the achievement of Internal Audit objectives through continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

People Development

• Coach, mentor, and develop audit team members to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
• Support competency development through training, coaching, and knowledge-transfer programs.
• Help ensure the team possesses the appropriate skills, experience, and certifications to meet audit and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience within Internal Audit.
• Strong knowledge and experience in:
