Job summary

Metrobank seeks a Strategic Support Officer to strengthen the Internal Audit Group by developing and enhancing the QAIP across the bank and subsidiaries. You will ensure compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards, BSP regulations, and audit methodologies while driving quality and continuous improvement.

The role supports the Group Head in advancing internal audit policies and risk-based assurance activities, contributing to improved control environment and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience within Internal Audit.
• Knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards and QAIP.
• Experience with audit governance and monitoring processes.
• Understanding of internal audit methodologies and assurance approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and enhancement of QAIP framework, standards, and tools.
• Conduct audit quality reviews and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Review audit planning, risk assessments, testing, and reporting for consistency and quality.

Job Summary

The Strategic Support Officer plays a critical role in strengthening the Internal Audit Group's effectiveness through the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) across the Bank and its subsidiaries. The role ensures compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards, BSP regulations, Internal Audit methodologies, and Audit Committee directives while driving audit quality, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position also supports the Group Head in advancing strategic and operational enhancements to Internal Audit policies, methodologies, and practices, ensuring risk‑based, objective, and value‑adding assurance activities that help protect and strengthen the organization. In addition, the role contributes to the assessment of the Bank's control environment and overall effectiveness of internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance, Governance & Audit Excellence

• Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of the QAIP framework, standards, scorecards, and assessment tools.
• Conduct audit quality reviews and internal assessments to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review audit planning, risk assessments, testing procedures, documentation, and reports to promote consistency and quality.
• Monitor remediation plans arising from quality assessments and report results to senior management and the Audit Committee.
• Coordinate quality assurance initiatives and assessments across Metrobank subsidiaries under the Group Supervision Policy.

Strategic Support & Transformation

• Support the development and continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, policies, and operating guidelines.
• Assess emerging risks, industry developments, and regulatory changes that may impact audit priorities and strategies.
• Lead and support strategic initiatives, projects, and enhancement programs within the Internal Audit Group.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address issues affecting project success, governance, and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure Internal Audit practices remain aligned with regulatory expectations and professional standards.

Audit Review & Advisory Support

• Serve as alternate or peer reviewer for audit engagements.
• Review audit scopes, risk assessments, findings, recommendations, and draft reports.
• Monitor audit plan execution and provide guidance to ensure adherence to established standards, timelines, and budgets.
• Support the achievement of Internal Audit objectives through continuous improvement and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

People Development

• Coach, mentor, and develop audit team members to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
• Support competency development through training, coaching, and knowledge‑transfer programs.
• Help ensure the team possesses the appropriate skills, experience, and certifications to meet audit and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience within Internal Audit.
• Strong knowledge and experience in:

• Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs (QAIP)
• Audit Governance and Monitoring
• Internal Audit Methodologies

Preferred Industry Background

• Local or international banking institutions
